PAY, CHARGE, FEE, COST, PRICE, TOLL, FARE,
FINE, BILL, CLAIM
PAY- Transitive verb (it takes an object) give money
for work, goods received or a debt that occurred
I paid the hotel bill.

I was paid by the client.


Charge- Transitive verb
to demand an amount for a service that was given
The catering service charged me €25,000 for the gala dinner.

I was charged €25,000 euros for the gala dinner.

Charge- an amount paid for another item, service

For example, if you rent a car, you could have to pay a fueling fee for
the act of taking the car to the station (It’s a service) and fueling it, and
a fuel charge for the actual fuel used. It is often used when referring to
costs on credit cards. There was an unusual charge on my credit card.
PENDING AUTHORIZATION
When a card is charged before the final amount is known, the merchant can request capture
after making adjustments to show the exact amount of the purchase. A pending
authorization will stay in place until the merchant requests the capture of funds that are due.

I got a parking fine after parking on a cross walk. We
can also say parking ticket (USA).
