Overview of Portfolio 1

This is an individual project which requires you to prepare a good resume, video resume and a job
application letter. This portfolio is divided into Task 1 , Task 2 & Task 3. At the end of the project, you should
have a completed compilation of:
1. Task 1
2. Task 2
3. Task 3

This portfolio must be submitted in WEEK 8.

Portfolio 1 Timeline

WEEK TASK

 Begin Task 1: Find a job advertisement you would like to apply to.

 Write your resume based on the selected advertisement.

 Proofread your resume (draft) using the provided Resume Checklist in class.

 Amend your resume and produce a final copy.

 Begin Task 2: Prepare your script for video resume.

 Shoot a video resume draft
 Proofread your video resume script(draft) using the provided Video Resume
5 Checklist in class.
 Amend your script and shoot a final Video Resume copy.

 Begin Task 3: Write a job application letter (cover letter) to

accompany your resume.

 Exchange your job application letter (draft) and proofread your


7 friend’s letter using the provided checklist.
 Amend your letter based on the comments and produce a final copy.

8  Submit Portfolio 1: Task 1, Task 2 and Task 3.

o Use appropriate font and font size to ensure the clarity and attractiveness of your resume
 Complete Resume Checklist to ensure that you have fulfilled the criteria for a good resume.
 Write the final copy of your resume.
 Compile these documents and submit on Week 8.

 Create a Video Resume based on the information stated in your resume.
 Be creative in your presentation.
 Show your completed script and video resume to your instructor for feedback.
 Create the final copy of your Video resume based on the feedback.
 Upload your video resume onto Youtube and provide the URL address to the video in the portfolio.

For this task, you will be assessed on:


a) your creativity in creating the video resume
b) your language use in the video
c) your delivery in the video

 Exchange your letter (draft) with a friend and proofread it by completing Job Application Letter
