2 PhD research fellowship positions at the University of Banja
Luka, Faculty of Electrical Engineering
Two PhD research fellowship positions are offered at the University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Patre 5, 78000 Banja
Luka, Republika Srpska; one in the field of digital signal processing and one in the field of web application security search.

These positions are offered within the framework of the project "Norwegian (NOR), Bosnian (BA) and Serbian (S) cooperation platform for
university and industry in ICT R&D - NORBAS" that is supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the program HERD/ICT.
The positions will be enrolled in a cotutuelle program and eventually receive a degree from both the University of Banja Luka, Faculty of
Electrical Engineering and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

We seek highly motivated and competent graduated students with a five-year (equivalent to 300ECTS) university degree in electrical
engineering and computing.

Applicants should have a minimum average grade of B (8) or better (top 10%) at both undergraduate and postgraduate studies from recognized
university in the area of electronic, telecommunications, physics or mathematics.

NTNU. It is a prerequisite that the PhD scholar applies for and is granted admission to the NTNU PhD studies as soon as possible after
employment.

Excellent English skills, written and spoken, are required. English proficiency must be documented. The acceptable tests are TOEFL, IELTS,
Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). Minimum scores are:

TOEFL: 580 / writing 4.5 (paper-based test), 92 / writing 22 (internet-based test)


IELTS: 6.5, with no section lower than 5.5 (only Academic IELTS test accepted)
CAE/CPE: grade B or A.

Emphasis will be put on personal qualities and potential as a researcher.

Applicants for the position in the field of digital signal processing should have a strong background in signal processing, electromagnetic
theory, communication/network theory and mathematics/physics. The objective of this PhD topic is to study electromagnetic induced signals
and their interactions with neuronal networks and systems. The candidate should also be willing to learn some topics related to neuroscience
and general system biology.

The PhD dissertation will be supervised by Asoc. Prof. Dr. Zdenka Babić at the University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and
co-supervised by Prof. Ilangko Balasingham at The Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Applicants for the position in the field of web application security search should have a strong background in web services, web
applications, dynamic program analysis, and static code analysis,. The objective of this PhD topic is to study techniques for increasing the
performance, robustness, reliability and security of web services. The candidate should also be willing to learn some topics related to operating
systems, distributed and cloud computing.

The PhD dissertation will be supervised by Doc. Zoran Djuric at the University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and co-
supervised by Prof. Danilo Gligoroski at The Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

During PhD studies the candidates will spend 12 months over the period of three years at the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics
and Electrical Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. The research activities at NTNU will be
realized during several time intervals. The candidates are expected to attend international conferences and meetings and publish work on this
PhD topic at least 3 papers in international, high impact journals and conferences.

3) Certified copies of university diploma and list of all exams marks.
4) Certificate of English language knowledge, publications and any other work which the applicant wishes to be taken into account.
