To our dearest research adviser, Mr. Mharvin Dalangin who never

stopped supporting us and he is always there in times of our need in this

study. He had become an inspiration to us researchers; we would not even

know what to write if he did not teach us.

To our dearest friends whom we had shared our tears and joys. For

the support and motivations that they gave us, thank you so much.

Another, to our ever loving and supportive parents, thank you for

everything especially on the financial and moral support you gave to us.

And our deepest gratitude to God, who always guided us and never

leaves us in this problem of ours we encountered. The road is tough but

we know it will be tougher without Him.

Thank you very much

Number of Respondents : 30 nautical engineers

Summary

This study was conducted to describe the level of extent of the

safety practices and pro active measures among nautical engineers.

Specifically, this study sought answer to the following questions:

1. How do the nautical engineers assess the safety practices on

their work environment?

2. How do the nautical engineers assess the pro-active measures

on their work environment?

3. Is there a significant relationship between the safety practices

and proactive measures on Nautical Engineers?

4. What action plan would be proposed for the continuous

improvement on the safety practices and pro-active measures of

the nautical engineers?

Hypothesis

There is no significant relationship between the safety practices and

pro-active measures among nautical engineers.

The researchers used the descriptive type of research. Through this

method, the extent of the safety practices and pro-active measures among

nautical engineers are identified. The respondents were chosen nautical

engineers.

Statistical methods used were frequency, correlation regression,

mega stat and weighted mean. The correlation regression was used to

determine the significant relationship of the two variables.

Findings of the Study

The following are the findings of the study:

1. Safety Practices of the Respondents

All of the respondents show great extent on their safety practices on

their work environment.

2. Pro-Active Measures of the Respondents

All of the respondents show great extent on the different pro-active

measures provided by the researchers.

3.Significant relationship between the safety practices and pro-active

measures among the nautical engineers

There is no significant relationship between the safety practices and

pro-active measures of the respondents since the p-computed value is

greater than 5 percent level of significance.

4. Action Plan

This study proposed an action plan for the continuous improvement

on the safety practices and pro-active measures of the nautical engineers,

this includes checking if the nautical engineers are provided check-up

regarding their health, checking if the nautical engineers are having at

least monthly check-up on their equipment, check the nautical engineers if

they are provided first aid kits and conduct interview on the nautical

engineers if they are provided anti-piracy training.

Recommendations

With reference to the above findings and conclusions, the

researchers propose the following:

1) There should be casual investigation on the health of the nautical

engineers for their safety.

2) There should be casual investigation on the equipment inside the

ship.

3) Provide everyone a copy of the location of the first aid kit inside in

case of emergencies.

4) Companies should provide Anti-Piracy training for every nautical

engineer.

5) Conduct similar research to validate the results of this study.
