head prefect of your school, you are asked to give a
farewell speech during the school assembly. Write out the
speech using the points given below.

 Greet the audience

 State how you feel about the principal leaving the school

 Talk about his/her good points

 State some of his/her contributions to the school

 Wish him/her all the best for his/her future

When writing your speech:

Model Answer

Good morning, Puan Sarimah, our beloved principal,

teachers and fellow students.
We are here today to bid farewell to our dear principal who
will retire at the end of the day. This is going to be a sad
goodbye as we all know how hard it is to find another principal
like Puan Sarimah. I feel very sad today. Puan Sarimah has
always guided us wonderfully and encouraged us strongly to do
well in whatever we do.
Puan Sarimah has always been like a mother to us. She is
very patient with the students. She earned our respect with the
excellent example she has shown us on how to achieve
success. She never failed to bring progress to our school. She
worked hard to get us our computer laboratory, our well-
equipped Science laboratory and the newly built auditorium.
She did not stop there. She formed a society to help the
less fortunate students. She has actively organised many
charity events to fund the society. Her persistence and
determination have always won our admiration.
We are going to miss you, Puan Sarimah. Our school was
very lucky to have you as our principal for five years. We wish
you all the best in your future undertakings.
