ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM SPEAKERS 2nd Alternative Fuels Symposium

Ahmad Al-Rousan, Secretary-General of AUCBM . Since 1986, Mr. Al-Rousan is the Secretary-
General of the Arab Union for Cement and Building Materials (AUCBM). The AUCBM is an inter-
national inter-Arab organization, affiliated to the General Secretariat of the Arab League and the
Council of Arab Economic Unity. Mr. Al-Rousan is also lecturer for the engineering faculty at the
University in Damascus.

Bruno Carré, Vice President at Italcementi Middle East, CEO at Suez Cement Co., Egypt. He
is a graduated engineer from Ecole Centrale (Paris) and obtained his MBA from Groupe HEC. He
joined Italcementi in October 2004, since when he has been in charge of Italcementi activities in
France and Belgium which include cement, ready-mix and aggregates, as well as lime and trans-
portation. Bruno Carré served as Chairman for the French Cement Industry Association (SFIC)
from 2008 through 2011; he was also Board member with Cembureau, EPE (Entreprise pour ’En-
vironnement, a member of WBCSD network), and GFI (Groupe des Fédérations Industrielles).

Joaquín de Diego – Combustion Market Applications European Manager at Praxair Eu-


roholding, Spain. Mr. de Diego is responsible for the oxygen combustion development in alumi-
num, glass, frits, lead, iron, and cement applications. After joining Praxair in 1997 he has been
working as a product manager of welding gases and as a European manager at the Energy Mar-
ket Applications Group. Mr. de Diego received a university degree in chemistry from the Com-
plutense University of Madrid (Spain), in addition to holding a welding specialist certificate from
the European Welding Federation as well as an MBA from the ESIC Business and Marketing
School in Madrid.

Dr.-Ing. Luigi Di Matteo, Chief Executive Officer, Di Matteo Group, Germany, responsible
for the strategic development and technology strategy of the company group. Luigi holds a me-
chanical engineer degree from the university of Paderborn – Soest, a degree from the IHK in
Münster for a technical business economist (IHK) and furthermore a doctor degree Dr.-Ing. from
the university in Braunschweig on the specific field of powder technologies. Luigi was honored
with the Professor-Adalbert-Seifriz-Award in 2005 for his studies on biomass and alternative
fuels. In 2011 he was honored with the Innovationspreis Münsterland for the new innovative
dosing system WeighTUBE®.

Marco Egger – Sales Manager at Lindner Recyclingtech GmbH, Germany, one of the leading
manufacturing companies for RDF/SRF shredding equipment. Mr. Egger started his career at
Lindner almost 20 years ago. He is involved in all technical and commercial belongings for de-
signing processing equipment for alternative fuels from waste projects all over the world.
ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM SPEAKERS 2nd Alternative Fuels Symposium

Michel Folliet, Chief Industry Specialist at IFC (International Finance Corporation), the pri-
vate sector arm of the World Bank, USA. He joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC)
in 2006 after 25 years of experience in the cement industry, where he held various positions and
having worked for Ciments Français and Lafarge in France, the USA, Venezuela, Bangladesh,
Malaysia and Cameroon.

Michael Gramling, Managing Director of MHC Engineering Fördertechnik GmbH, Germany,


one of the leading European manufacturers of silo discharge systems for difficult flowing bulk ma-
terials. After receiving a degree in Construction Engineering and additional as business econo-
mist, Mr. Gramling has worked with conveyors for bulk materials as a design engineer, project
manager and area sales manager. In 2004 Mr. Gramling joined WTW Engineering Maschinen-
und Förderanlagenbau GmbH and a year later founded the sister company MHC and became the
Managing Director anc co-owner of both companies.

Dr. Ziad Gabriel Habib, Corporate Director, Process Development & Innovation at Lhoist
Group, Belgium. Aside manufacturing process innovation, technical lobbying, he is responsible
for providing production plants with energy efficiency, fuel flexibility and air emissions solutions. Dr.
Habib holds a Doctorate degree & a Research Supervisor degree in thermodynamics from Univer-
sity of Rouen, France. He has a long track record in combustion science & technology both indus-
trial & academic.

Thomas Jennewein, FLSmidth Pfister GmbH, Germany - product specialist for alternative fuels,
joined the company in 2008. For the first two years he was trained in the departments “Project
Development” and “On-site Service”. Since 2010 he is responsible for project planning and tech-
nical design of the rotor weighfeeder ‘Pfister TRW-S/D’. Before he became a team member of
FLSmidth Pfister he worked in sales and project development for different companies in the field of
bulk materials, among others, as a representative for ATEX-standards.

Dr. Stefan Kern, Proposal Engineer and Product Manager at A TEC Production & Services
GmbH, Austria, graduated from the doctoral studies in process engineering at the Technical Uni-
versity of Vienna. After his career as a process engineer in the field of energy system optimization
in Indonesia, Mr. Kern came back to the university as a project and research assistant at the Tech-
nical University of Vienna. Among other things he was responsible for the scientific and organiza-
tional aspects of EU projects.
ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM SPEAKERS 2nd Alternative Fuels Symposium

Dirk Lechtenberg, MVW Lechtenberg & Partner, Germany, founder and Managing Director of
MVW Lechtenberg, honoured as “Global Cemfuels Personality of the Year” in March 2012 by
Global Cement & Lime Magazine, is one of the pioneers for the production and use of secondary
fuels. During his over 20-year involvement in this field he was, among others, project engineer at
a subsidiary of Portlandzementwerke Miebach & Söhne, Germany and later Managing Director of
a German RDF processing plant. Dirk Lechtenberg is the author of the “Alternative Fuels and Raw
Materials Handbook for the Cement & Lime Industry” – a unique compendium for professionals in
this field.

Dr. Uwe Lubjuhn, Director Cement Operations, CEMEX Latvia; Dr. Uwe Lubjuhn: Born 1961
in Dortmund / Germany. Studies of mining engineering and mineral processing at Technical Uni-
versity of Clausthal / Germany. PHD with doctoral thesis about high compression roller mills.
Working in the German cement industry since 1992 in different positions. Since 2008 operations
director cement for CEMEX SIA in Latvia.

Con Manias, Managing Director, FCT International, Australia. He is a Chemical Engineer


with tertiary business qualifications. He has been a Director of FCT since 1995, appointed Gen-
eral Manager of the Australian part of the company in 1995, and CEO of the FCT Group in 1998.
In this time he has overseen the growth of the company into a significant international supplier of
industrial combustion and mineral process control expertise and equipment. Con has previously
held senior management positions within Adelaide Brighton Cement. In the cement industry, Con
has world wide recognition for his technical knowledge and abilities, and is regularly holding
presentations at international conferences, contribute technical papers to industry journals, and
was one of the authors of the Book "Innovations in Portland Cement Manufacture".

Bernd Neumann, Consultant Heavy Industry at Schenck Process Group, Germany. Mr.
Neumann has been working with the Schenck Process Group for more than 30 years. Until 2012,
he performed as Schenck Process Group Vice President Heavy Industry (Steel, Non-Ferrous,
Cement). He strategically expanded the business in the field of alternative fuels worldwide.

Anthony Nicolopulos, Alternative Fuels Development Director SEE & EM, Titan Cement
Co, S.A., Greece - holds both civil engineering (NTUA) & management post graduate degrees
(UMIST). Anthony Nicolopoulos spent 2 years with British Gas and then 10 years in KANTOR
Management Consulting before joining Titan Cement. In the last 11 years, Anthony had the op-
portunity to apply his leadership skills in business development, as a CEO of Cementarnica Usje
A.D. – Skopje, one of Titan's business units in South Eastern Europe, and since 2011 in the
challenging field of alternative energy development.
ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM SPEAKERS 2nd Alternative Fuels Symposium

Dr. Pfaff-Simoneit, Senior Technical Expert at KfW Development Bank, Germany - holds a
German Diploma Decree in Civil Engineering he acquired in 1984 at the Technical University of
Darmstadt. After nearly 20 years of professional experience he has gathered working as con-
sultant in national and international solid waste projects he joined KfW in 2002. He is KfW’s
Senior Technical Expert for solid waste management acting as internal consultant. He is advis-
ing and supporting the different branches of KfW in conceptual, technical and environmental
aspects of SWM projects. He accompanied around 50 national and international solid waste
management projects supported and financed by KfW. End of 2012 he successfully finished his
doctoral thesis at the University of Rostock on implementation of advanced solid waste man-
agement in developing countries.

Jens Ole Simonsen, Head of Product Management, Metso, Denmark, has been working in
the waste business for the Danish shredder manufacturer Metso (formerly M&J Industries) for the
past 14 years and has been involved in delivering pre and fine shredders to some of the most
important European manufacturers of RDF for the cement industry. He has consequently gained
a profound knowledge of the necessary requirements related to efficient waste handling for re-
fuse derived fuels.

Şefik Tüzün, CEO of Votorantim Turkey, CEO of Turkish Cement Manufacturer Associa-
tion, Turkey, holds a master degree in Mechanical Engineering. He started his professional life
in Etibank as Project Engineer and moved to research at the Denmark University and later to
METU. After holding different positions in GAMA Industry, Mr. Tüzün worked at Set Cement.
Later he continued at Lafarge Turkey. At the same time, Mr. Tüzün, carried out the mission of
Lafarge Turkey Cement Group Vice Presidency of Industry between 2001 and 2004, as well as
Lafarge North America Gypsum Group Vice Presidency of Production in the USA. When Cimpor
Group took over the assets of Yibitaş Lafarge Group, he held the Board Membership and Ce-
ment Group Presidency, becoming later the CEO. After the transfer of Cimpor Turkey assets to
Votorantim Group, Tüzün continued his mission as CEO and Vice Presidency of Board.

Daniel Wresnik – Sales and Business Development Manager at UNTHA shredding technol-
ogy, Austria. Prior to joining UNTHA shredding technology, Daniel Wresnik worked in the Sales
& Marketing / Product Management Department at several companies, including 5 years’ experi-
ence as Sales & Marketing / Product Manager for the German-based equipment manufacturer
Liebherr. He received his Master degree in international economic and business studies from the
University of Innsbruck, Austria. During this period he also studied at the Norwegian School of
Management in Oslo.
