mandela-death-apartheid-46-years-in-90-seconds. Accessed 29 Oct. 2018. I used this

apartheid.

"Bantu Education." South Africa: Overcoming Apartheid,

overcomingapartheid.msu.edu/sidebar.php?id=65-258-2. Accessed 15 Oct. 2018.

This article also aided me in my studies of finding out what exactly Bantu Education is.

However, this article focused more on personal struggles of people who have experienced

apartheid first-hand. This source provided information and interviews from a teacher who

taught at a white school during the apartheid, and an African student who experienced

what it was like to be in all-black schools during this time. I used this source to gain a

more personal perspective on apartheid, and to understand what people really went

through.

Chepkemoi, Joyce. "What Happened during the Soweto Student Uprising in South Africa?"

World Atlas, 1 Aug. 2017, www.worldatlas.com/articles/what-happened-during-the-

soweto-student-uprising-in-south-africa.html.

This Source gave me more background to clarify my sources were correct in describing

what happened. Understanding the reason behind these protests helped me defend my

point better, and I was able to describe it in my own words.

Cummings, Basia, and Matthew Holmes. "'My Activism Started Then': The Soweto Uprising

Remembered." The Guardian, 16 June 2016,

www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jun/16/my-activism-started-then-the-soweto-uprising-

remembered.

This primary source was used as one of my other examples for what happened that day.

Most information I received were from interviews or people who survived the Uprising,

and this source helped me analyze different points of view from what happened that day.

It also clarified my idea that depending on where you are at a specific time can dictate

what your experience is, which is the case for both of my primary sources.

The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica. "Bantu Education Act." Encyclopædia Britannica,

edited by The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica, www.britannica.com/event/Bantu-

Education-Act. Accessed 15 Oct. 2018.

This source focused totally on the facts. I used this source to look at apartheid from a

more unbiased angle, and just look at the factual evidence presented in front of me. This
source helped me attain details that I needed to properly back up my arguments. I was

able to gain more knowledge about apartheid, and restate the factual evidence I received

from this site.

Gallagher, Michael. "The Birth and Death of Apartheid." BBC News,

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/575204.stm.

This article explained not only the factual basis for apartheid in South Africa, but also

presented moral argumentative debates against this system of inequality snd prejudice. I

acquired more knowledge about the topic of apartheid, and therefore was able to

understand how to incorporate that correctly into my NHD topic. I used it for my own

personal knowledge, but also for this project so that I could interpret what apartheid is to

people who've never understood it's definition.

"The June 16 Soweto Youth Uprising." South African History Online, 6 June 2018,

www.sahistory.org.za/topic/june-16-soweto-youth-uprising.

This source gave me most of my information on Bantu Education because it provided

such good background on why it was created, for whom it was created, and what it

caused in South Africa. I used this source to explain what exactly Bantu Education was,

and to reveal to the reader how this affected young African students.

2016, , www.sahistory.org.za/topic/june-16-soweto-youth-uprising-timeline-1976-1986.

This site was one I used most. It was one of my favorites, in that it provided exact dates

and times that I used for my timeline. While I used this source mainly for my timeline, I

also used it to give step-by-step information on what happened during the Soweto

Uprising.

Mbola, Bathandwa. "Survivor Recalls 16 June 1976." South African Government News, 16 June

2014, www.sanews.gov.za/features/survivor-recalls-16-june-1976. Accessed 15 Oct.

2018.

This source was provided by a person who wrote about their firsthand experience during

the Soweto Uprising. It was one of the primary sources I used as an example in my essay,
which I cited. In my opinion, it was the best story in the sense of providing details and a

clear picture of what happened on June 16, 1976.

2007, sowetouprisings.blogspot.com/2007/08/process-tshesele-high-school-route.asp.

This source gave one of the many examples of routes that South African children took to

march in their protest. A research team interviewed Antonette Sithole, and they walked

through the path while she informed them of what happened that day. This article gave a

firsthand account from one of the survivors of the Uprising. I used this mainly for my

own knowledge, but also for my article to give personal, real, examples of people who

have been affected by this movement.
