Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Some students might need extra help so I would tell them that if they do
not know the answer take their best guess and then write down or make a note of the one they had trouble
with. Also, I could tell them that they can help their partners after the click in the right answer if they need
help. I would let them know that it is okay if they need help and if their partner can’t help them try their best
and we will come back and talk about it.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. The teacher will have already been talking about adding and subtracting to find the final
answer so the students will be familiar with this concept. I would introduce this activity during math time
when we are ready to do some practice. Instead of giving them a worksheet to practice or having them work
in partners or groups I would tell them that we are going to play a class game with technology. I would explain
the rules and how it works and give them a few practice problems before the game was to actually start.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: The teacher can read out the questions when
they pop up on the screen while the students try to answer the question as fast as they can with the clicker or
tablet. The students will need a tablet or a clicker to respond to the questions. The teacher will just have to
have her computer to log into her Kahoot! account and pull up the questions. The activity will last about 10-
15 minutes.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
This way the students will know what the answer is right after the respond and the time runs out. I want to do
this so they do not have to wait to find out the correct answer and they can get feedback on what they know
and do not know.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? After it is over the students will be able to ask questions
about ones they got wrong and this will help the teacher open up conversations for the whole class. The
teacher will also know what topics that she should go back over based off of the results from the whole class.

How will the data be used? I will learn what students need more help and which students can move on to
higher level problems. The data collected will help me determine which students might need more attention
and math and it helps the teacher know where and on what to spend more time on. At the end the students
and I will be able to see who got the most points and who got it right and the top three people will get to
choose an activity they want from the reward system. From the data collected I can have students work in
groups in the future on different level Kahoots! and have them play against others to see who wins. The
information is for me in the classroom to asses each child and their level, but I could put different Kahoots! on
the classroom website for parents to practice at home with their children for extra practice.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity: I have never tried Kahoot in the classroom so I want to
see if the students like it and respond well to it and if it is something to use in the future or if it does not mesh
well with some kids rather than others. I hope the students will want to be one of the three that are in the
top three and it pushes them to practice and at home and pay attention so they get to pick a prize.

Reflective Practice: I think this will make the students want to win and want to know their additions and
subtraction. I think they will be competitive and try to win and that will enhance their learning without them
even knowing or feeling like it. I think that this is something I could use for every unit as practice and review
for test that is fun rather than paper and pencil.
