THE PATCHOGIAN

November, 2018 —- Celebrating 115 Years of Faithful Service — 1903 - 2018

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, PATCHOGUE COUNCIL #725

Officers From the Grand Knight’s Desk
Chaplain
S/K Fr. William Winters, So dull and dark are the November days. The lazy mist high
OFM, Cap. up the evening curled, And now the morn quite hides in
smoke and haze; The place we occupy seems all the world -
Grand Knight John Clare

S/K John E. Terlecki

Brothers,
Deputy Grand Knight
S/K Joe Sheldrick Here it is already November - where are the months going? These busy months of November
and December are fast approaching. Our annual Blue Mass, Thanksgiving, and our Christmas
Chancellor Parade are all coming in just a few weeks believe it or not. It all seems to be moving at warp
S/K James Kaan speed.
In early October my wife and I took a vacation to northern Italy and we thoroughly enjoyed
Financial Secretary all sights, food, and cities, but it was the Churches and Basilica’s that stood out the most. Vati-
S/K Robert Elliott PGK FDD can City, St. Peter’s Basilica, St Anthony’s Basilica of Padua, St. Mark’s Basilica of Venice –
so much beauty. While there, we were able to light candles and pray for our friends in need.
Warden While in Rome we also visited the il Covento dei Cappuccini, a museum, crypt and church.
Keith Mandart We couldn’t miss visiting this beautiful place as our Chaplain Fr. Bill Winters is member of the
Cappuccini order.
Treasurer The social meeting was a success. Approximately 30 members and spouses attended. The
S/K Denis Boyce Integra Company gave a brief presentation on eldercare in the home versus nursing home
care. They left behind brochures and give- a-ways and recommended phone #s for additional
Recorder information. Tony Grant provided music and our own Vito Marciano sang a couple of Italian
S/K Kevin Drawbridge songs solo. All in attendance enjoyed hero sandwiches prepared by Fuddy Graniello and Paul
Chilupo. A good time was had by all.
Advocate On Friday night, Oct 19th, we held a night at the races with Italian cuisine. It was a well-
S/K Michael Boehm attended fun night for members to gather and enjoy each other’s company Thanks to
PGK FDD FCOB Chairmen Joe Sheldrick and his crew the night went off without a problem.
Once again November will be a busy month as I mentioned in my opening paragraph. I hope
Inside Guard that all of you mark your calendars with the dates posted in this month’s Patchogian so as not
S/K Tom Liguori to miss any the events we have planned. These are but a few of the many things we do here at
the council. There is so much more going on each and every day. The big things are
Outside Guard highlighted, but in the back ground someone is always at work either managing committee
S/K Richard Costa work, attending meetings, attending webnet training, managing our property, or generating
funds to keep it all running. Ours is a busy Council and we should be proud.
Outside Guard In closing my fifth memo from the Grand Knights Desk, it is my continued hope that we to
S/K Nick DiMola reach out to the parishes we support and provide the services and people whenever and where
we are needed.
First Year Trustee
S/K James Addie PGK On behalf of my family and myself, I’d like to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Second Year Trustee Vivat Jesus!

COLUMBIETTES CORNER
WE CARE - WE SHARE

My Dear Sister Columbiettes and Brother Knights,

Can you believe it we are already in November and ready for the holiday season? Where has this year gone, we are only 9
weeks before Christmas, scary isn’t it. Well this month is our Christmas party and the Blue Mass to honor all the police and
fire personnel who have served our community. This is our last meeting for the year and our next meeting will be January 16, 2019. I
want to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season.

Last month we held our Major Degree and welcomed 23 new sister Columbiettes from several councils. We also celebrated our
Memorial mass on October 7th at Our Lady of the Island, and what a wonderful day that was. The mass had to be held in the chapel due
to the weather and to our surprise there was a visiting Bishop from India. We prayed for all our deceased Columbiette sisters who have
gone to heaven, and the ladies choral group sang in the Bishop’s native language. A luncheon at Mama Lisa’s followed.

Please keep in your prayers Joan Ansbach, Terry Bobe, Jim and Elaine Addie, Joann Brandi and her family, Vicki Carrabus and her husband
Rudy, and all our Sister Columbiettes and Brother Knights in need of our prayers.

I would like to wish all our November Birthday Baby’s a Very Happy and Healthy Birthday.

May the peace of our Lord be with you always,

Betty Weeks, President
