Technological developments brought changes and rapid impact in the XII
century. The development of technology can improve performance and make it easier
for us to do things quickly, efficiently, and can increase productivity. According to Sri
Maharsari (127: 2000) information technology can be defined as a combination of
computer and telecommunications technology with other technologies such as
hardware, software, databases, network technology, and other telecommunications
equipment. We cannot avoid technological advances, because technological progress
will continue to keep pace with the progress of science. According to the Global
Innovation Index 2018, one of the most innovative countries in the world is the United
States
Technological developments are also developing in the automotive field such as
the Ford car brand, which is an American manufacturer, developing software software
innovations on its cars. One of the features developed in the car, there is touchscreen
technology on the dashboard that is integrated in an internet connection through voice
commands. This car can be used for navigation, listening to music, talking, and
knowing the weather, can monitor thousands of congestion points and tell new routes
to avoid congestion, find out the condition of the road, empty parking space. In
addition, there is also an American car manufacturer, BMW brand, which is now
developing a car with features that can read and recognize road signs, so as to minimize
the possibility of accidents. There are also other brands like Daimler, GM (General
Motors) competing to develop new features based on online. We can track our car
remotely if we forget, diagnose engine problems to minimize accidents.
The conclusion is that a product can continue to survive in the current era of
the digital needed points such as: (1) recognize the needs of consumers, where now
humans can not be separated from the needs of Interenet, such as BMW car, Ford, GM,
Daimler they race competition to develop features that are connected via internet
connection (2) don’t feel satisfied when you are at the peak of glory and continue to
innovate, such as Ford car companies do where it’s more focused on innovating in
utilizing features to make it easier for humans (3) Want to listen to input and open your
mind. Companies that are complacent and don’t follow the development of the times
or don’t try to develop innovation, the company will lose and destroy with small
companies and always develops innovation by following the trend of Internet of
Things.
