This report presents the latest results of an assessment of the chemistry and other materials make-up
of light vehicles, a major end-use customer for chemistry. With 14.65 million light vehicles assembled
in the United States and Canada during 2016 this important market represents the equivalent of some
$44.1 billion in chemistry. This chemistry value is up from $43.9 billion in 2015 when 14.38 million units
were assembled. This 2016 value has increased significantly from the depths of the recession in 2009,
when 6.94 million units were assembled and the associated chemistry value was $20.7 billion.
