As election days gets closer,
here is a look at what will be on
the upcoming local ballot.
At the county level, there is

Bengry, Jeffrey Jackson, Mark

Kelley Whitman. The two who
receive the most votes will be
elected to the school board.
There will be three Evart city
charter changes on the ballot.
Charter amendment No. 1
looks at changing the city clerk
from an elected position to an
appointed one starting in 2020.
Charter amendment No. 2,
if passed, would reduce the
required number of meetings
from at least twice a month to
at least once a month.
Finally, charter amendment
No. 3 changes the city’s tax due
date from Aug. 10 to Sept. 15
each year.
In Reed City, voters will chose
four city council members.
Incumbents James Anderlohr,
Trevor Guiles, Karen Mckin-
ney and Carol Tillotson are
seeking re-election while Nate
Bailey is seeking his first term.
The four with most votes will
be elected to the council.
There are three seats up
for election for the Reed City
School board. Running for a
four-year term onschool board
are incumbents Derrick Book-
walter and Christine Mund and
challengers Jamie Eichenberg
and Stephan Saylor.
Polls will open on Nov. 6 from
7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

ing its reach.

nounced on its Facebook page
that it is sending out its Plump

Though she said she wants
the company to continue to
grow, Murphy wants to ease
into the beverage market due
to the limited capacity of the
current location, at the corner
of Upton Avenue and South
Higbee Street.
“Reality is that we are out
of space here in our cozy little
space downtown and are ac-
tively searching for additional
space so that RCBC can move
our production operations
for brewing, winemaking and
eventually look to expand
into craft distilling,” Murphy
wrote.
Murphy would like to keep
all production and expan-
sion inside Reed City but will
look in the surrounding area
if necessary. But no matter
where the expansion takes
the company, the taproom will
continue to operate in Reed
City.
“We are so happy with our
growth here in Reed City and
the support that we have re-
ceived from the community,”
wrote Murphy. “We have met
some really great people in
the beginning of our journey
and cannot wait to share our
growth with this wonderful
town.”

United Methodist Church
is hosting a bazaar and lun-
cheon 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on
Friday, Nov. 2.
The bazaar will include
a bake sale, hand-made
crafts and a white elephant
sale. Lunch will be avail-
able 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and
includes soup, sandwiches,
salad and desserts. Takeout
will be available.

Chad W. Comstock
REED CITY — Chad W.
Comstock, of Reed City,
passed away unexpected-
ly Monday, October 29,
2018, at the home of his
parents in Kentwood,
Michigan. He was 45.
Chad was born October
12, 1973, in Lansing, to
Jared William and Vir-
ginia Eileen (Kushmaul)
Comstock. He graduated
from Evart High School
in 1992, then graduated
with honors from ITT
Technical Institute. Chad
had worked the last 24
years for Reed City Tool
and Die. He loved spend-
ing time with his family,
was an avid Detroit Red
Wings fan, enjoyed sport
shooting, motorcycles
and cars (especially Cor-
vettes).
Mr. Comstock is sur-
vived by his parents, Jar-
ed and Virginia Com-
stock of Kentwood, Mich-
igan, his three sisters,
Shanda (Robert) Renne
of Evart, Denise (Mi-
chael) Neuhaus of Grand
Rapids, Jennifer (Jim)
Flowers of Sears, 10 niec-
es and nephews, four
great nieces and neph-
ews, and his significant
other, Lisa Beemer of Ev-
