School Management

What is School Management ? School management includes

professional personnel who are responsible for school management /
administration. It includes principals, assistant principals, headmasters,
assistant headmasters, and other management staff with similar
responsibilities. It does not include however receptionists, secretaries,
clerks, and other staff who support the administrative activities of the
school so that it probides better educational experience to students.

Based on my observation during my 14 weeks practicum period, I

can observe that the teachers really provide a lot of activities to the
students in order for them to improve themselves not only in education.
For example, for english language itself, the english department prepared
a programme called “A word a day” that introduced new words that came
with the meaning of the word and sentence example on how to use the
word. The teacher incharge would prepare the words and the teacher who
entered the first period needs to introduce the word of that particular day
to the students and the teacher needs to make sure that the students copy
down what is the word in their “A word a day” logbook.

Besides that, from what I observed, since the school has a lot of
Linus students, the teachers would approached them in a lot of different
ways and use different techniques to help them in their studies. For
english language, the English Linus department would provide different
exercise books for the Linus students to do every Friday around 11.50
a.m to 12.30 p.m. . This programme helped the teacher to focus more on
them and helped them as much as possible, because normal english
period, the teacher was not able to focus on them as he/she needs to
conduct his/her lesson and focus on the whole class.

Then, I noticed that the teachers actually used a lot of positive

reinforcement to control the students whether in classroom or outside of
the classroom. The teachers would adviced the students not to do things
that were not allow to do at school and would always kept reminding
them every morning before the first period started at the school hall as the
students will gathered at the school hall every morning to listen to the
teacher’s announcement.

Those are some of the activities done by the teachers at the school.
The activities were not only being done by the English department but
also the whole school were also involved in making sure that the
activities were a success.
