Statement of Purpose

I am Aftab Ahmad, a prospective university graduate having strong interests in Mathematical sciences. I
began my learning journey in self-discovery and personal fulfillment from the beginning of freshman year.
It went further on as I choose Mathematics in my B.Sc and M.Sc. I have completed my undergraduate
studies in Mathematics from University of Pakistan, in Feb 2008, with a percentage of 85.5 out of 100%. I
was an active somehow indulgent student among others during my undergraduate studies, very often
involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities. In fact, I was up to the mark and honored in the top
10 list of 30 students in my undergraduate class. If observed by the meritorious efforts I remain very
competent and I have passed all entrance tests conducted by the academic institution of my education with
high achievements. In finale year of my undergraduate studies, I studied Algebra, Numerical analysis,
Mathematical statistics, differential geometry and functional analysis. I found strong motivation in myself
towards graduate study and research in the area of numerical analysis, PDE’s and ODE;s. My years of
formal education in University and professional experience extended considerable benefit to me. All the
time, curiosity to learn more and become a professional in PDE’s and Numerical analysis is taking me to
new frontiers and making me look for new opportunities to polish my abilities. I have preference for
specialties with strong pragmatic applicability, which can not only promote what I learn in real life but also
promote me to find a decent career opportunity. As an old saying goes “All work no play make Jack a dull
boy”, apart from academic study, I also show enthusiasm on extracurricular activities including swimming,
trailing and hiking and wildlife photography being my hobby. Unfortunately I belong to swat valley and as
you know swat was a war zone since 2007 - 2013. Our infrastructure, agriculture and businesses were
completely destroyed by the militants that’s why a big gape came in my further studies. Due to the financial
crises and also threats got from militants I went abroad to support my family that’s why I could not
proceeded my further studies.

Study Plan in Saudi Arabia

In the world full of competition and opportunities as well, I am looking forward to peruse my
Master's degree in Mathematical Sciences. I came across the scholarships offered by MEXT Saudi Arabia
and thought it would be a better opportunity for me to secure one and work in a new environment with
new horizons of learning and experiences. I would like to apply for the Master's Degree in mathematical
Sciences in Saudi Arabia because from my experience, past internship and my final year t I come to know
the vast practical applications of the Mathematical Sciences, this caught my attention and created a thirst of
knowledge in me to study my chosen course. My motto is to work in an international field related to
Mathematical Science and Engineering. Therefore, I would like to gain deeper theoretical and practical
knowledge in starting and managing most innovative projects. During my studies, with great hidden abilities
in myself I will try to come up with the best of everything; to accompany the professors and university
colleagues in carrying out research and exploring for immense exciting in the field of Mathematical Science.
After completion of my Master's studies I hope to be able to take part in maximizing my country’s research
technology in such fields to benefit its economy and enhance the living standards of my compatriots. I
believe that this Master's Program will provide me with the chance to get to know with Mathematics and
affiliates me dedicatedly to the society. I hope that I can gain more experience in dealing with situations and
demands which will be of a great help in my future career. I will pursue my MS degree in Mathematical
Science and the normal length of study is about 2 years. Throughout these years, my study and research
will focus on PDE’S, ODE’S, Fluid Mechanics and Numerical analysis. The time and arrangement of MS
program is listed as follow,
First year
I would like to put most effort of my first year on studying core course and teaching. I would like to attend
seminars and conferences. I will join a research group and do some preliminary research. I will then finish
my research proposal under instruction of my research advisor. According to my research proposal, I will
carry out my research plan, arranged detailed experiments, analyze the results and modify the schemes.
High quality research papers are expected to be published on international academic journals in this
period.
Second year
At the beginning of this year, I will finish my research. Then I will focus on my Master's dissertation and
degree defence.
The goals for Master's research education will be:
 To gain general knowledge within the different specialized areas of mathematical science and
integrated knowledge about the important Mathematical problems
 To gain deeper knowledge within a particular specialized area of mathematical science, and gain
insight into literature, research methods and a good handle on current topics within the field
 To gain practical experience in mathematical research
  To gain experience in critical, scientific based work with mathematical problems.
The goal of Master's research is also to prepare for continued activity both within and
outside of academia

Reasons to study in Saudi Arabia:

Now the question arises, “Why Saudi Arabia?” Reading the books, watching the news, analyzing and
observing the people of Saudi Arabia, I am really impressed by the way these individuals have proved
themselves to be dedicated to their work and with true efforts they have set Saudi Arabia as a successful
example for other third world or developed countries. The fast growing economy, technological
advancement and the global ranking education institutes of Saudi Arabia with high reputation makes a
great aspiration to the students and professionals for the better career perspectives. Thus such kind of
positivity has boosted my confidence further and I am highly satisfied with the decision I have taken.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia’s diverse cultural norms and values, the famous gentle hospitality of its people
and Pakistan-Saudi Arabia all weather friendly relations since past to promote bilateral trade ,
acceptance and peace to both sides in great clarity make me feel Saudi Arabia as my second homeland;
also my family fully supports my choice for Saudi Arabia being my preference for graduate studies. All
these reasons put together make Saudi Arabia an ideal place for me to do my Master's degree.

As a saying goes, Blessed people shall live like a tree, do not count on others and firmly root in the
hurried stream of life, appear green through wind and rain. I am well aware that my advanced study in
Saudi Arabia presents many challenges, but I am confident that I can overcome these challenges. As a
young professional, I am ready to accept the challenges on the way of pursuing my dream. I realize that as
a non-native student, I will be required to work harder than my contemporaries and I am prepared to do
that. I have a cheerful and open-minded disposition, positive character and look forward to sharing and
exploring new ideas
