BOPE Pressure Test Procedures

A. Choke Manifold PT Procedures

1. Connect hose of Test pump to top of Valve #17 & Keep it open, Close Choke
line HCR, Open all downstream Valves #7, #8, HC, MC, #9, #10, #11, #12, #13,
#14, #15, & #16. Pump in water to check all the line unblocked, fill in the water.
2. PT Valves #14, #15,#16 & #4. Close Valves #4, #14, #15, 16#, Open HCR, Keep
all of other Valve open. Pump slowly to low-pressure test @300psi, hold 10
minutes, then Pump to 2500psi, and hold 10 minutes. Change the leaking valve,
if any. Otherwise, to next.
3. PT Valves #9, #11, #12, #13 & HCR. Close Valves #9, #11, #12, #13 & HCR,
Open Valves #14, #16 & #4. Keep all of other valve open. Pump slowly to low-
pressure test @300psi, hold 10 minutes, then Pump to 2500psi, and hold 10
minutes. Change the leaking valve, if any. Otherwise, to next.
4. PT Valves #10, HC, MC & #6. Close Valves #10, HC, MC & #6 Open #9, #11,
#12, #13, #15, #16 & HCR. Pump slowly to low-pressure test @300psi, hold 10
minutes, then Pump to 2500psi, and hold 10 minutes. Change the leaking valve,
if any. Otherwise, to next.
5. PT Valves #7, #8, against #6 & #10. Close Valves #7, #8. Open HC & MC.
Pump slowly to low-pressure test @300psi, hold 10 minutes, then Pump to
2500psi, and hold 10 minutes. Change the leaking valve, if any. Otherwise, to
next.
6. PT Valve #17. Close #17. Open Valves #7, #8, #10. Pump slowly to low-pressure
test @300psi, hold 10 minutes, then Pump to 2500psi, and hold 10 minutes.
Change the leaking valve, if any. Otherwise, to next.
7. Close Choke line HCR, and Keep #10, #14, #15, MC & HC Close, Open all the
other Valves and check it again.

8. Open6#, 7#, 8#, 9#, 10#, 11#, 17#. Manual choke valve (MC) and hydraulic
choke valve (HC). Conduct the low-pressure test first at a pressure of 300psi.
Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure test next at a pressure
of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes. If OK next step, if leakage then test each valve
one by one.
1. Pressure test 12#, 13# valves. Close 12#, 13#, 14#, 16#, 10#, Open 6#, 7#,
8#, 9#, 11#, MC, HC, 15# and 17#. Conduct the low-pressure test first at a
pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure
test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes. If OK next step, if
leakage then test each valve one by one.
2. Pressure test 9#, 10#, 11# valves. Close 9#, 10#, 11#, Open 6#, 7#, 8#,
12#, 13#, 14#, 15#, 16#, 17# and MC, HC. Conduct the low-pressure test
first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-
pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes. If OK next
step, if leakage then test each valve one by one.
3. Pressure test 7#, 8# valves. Close 7#, 8#,10# valves. Open 6#, 9#, 11#,
12#, 13#, 14#, 15#, 16#, 17# and MC, HC. Conduct the low-pressure test
first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-
pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes. If OK next
step, if leakage then test each valve one by one.
4. Pressure test hydraulic choke valve. Close HC, 7#, 10#, Open 6#, 8#, 9#,
11#, 12#, 13#, 14#, 15#, 16#, 17# and MC. Conduct the low-pressure test
first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-
pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes. If OK next
step, if leakage then test each valve one by one.
5. Pressure test manual choke valve. Close MC, 8#, 10#, Open 6#, 7#, 9#,
11#, 12#, 13#, 14#, 15#, 16#, 17# and HC. Conduct the low-pressure test
first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-
pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes. If OK next
step, if leakage then test each valve one by one.

6. Pressure test 17#. Close 17# valve, Open 6#, 7#, 8#, 9#, 10#, 11#, 12#,
13#, 14#, 15#, 16# and MC, HC. Conduct the low-pressure test first at a
pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure
test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes. If OK next step, if
leakage then test each valve one by one.

BOPE TEST

Before testing, first land the test plug and the test joint in the casing head, and then
connect the pressure source (test pump) to the kill line.
1. Annular preventer test.
Open all valves and chokes on the choke manifold.
Open all casing head valve.
Open 2#, 3#, 4# valves, close 5# valve.
Close Annular preventer, Conduct the low-pressure test first at a pressure of
300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure test next at a
pressure of 2100psi. Hold on ten minutes.
2. Pipe ram test.
Open all valves and chokes on the choke manifold,
Open all casing head valve.
Open 2#, 3#, 4# valves, close 5# valve.
Close Pipe ram, Conduct the low-pressure test first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold
on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure test next at a pressure of
2500psi. Hold on ten minutes.
3. Blind ram test
Remove the test joint or running tools from wellbore, only left plug land in the
casing head.
Open all valves and chokes on the choke manifold,
Open all casing head valve.
Open 2#, 3#, 4# valves, close 5# valve.
Close Blind ram, Conduct the low-pressure test first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold
on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure test next at a pressure of
2500psi. Hold on ten minutes.
4. Pressure test 6# valve. Close 6#, open 5# and all choke manifold valves.
Conduct the low-pressure test first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten
minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold
on ten minutes.
5. Pressure test hydraulic valve 5#. Close 5#, open 6# and all choke manifold
valves. Conduct the low-pressure test first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten
minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold
on ten minutes.
Remark: this valve had been tested while test choke manifold and BOP.
6. Pressure test 4# valve. Close 4#, open 5#, 6# and all choke manifold valves.
Conduct the low-pressure test first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten
minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold
on ten minutes.
7. Pressure test 3# valve. Close 3#, open 4#, 5#, 6# and all choke manifold
valves. Conduct the low-pressure test first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten
minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold
on ten minutes.
8. Pressure test 2# valve. Close2#, open3#, 4#, 5#, 6# and all choke manifold
valves. Conduct the low-pressure test first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten
minutes. Then conduct the high-pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold
on ten minutes.
KELLY SAFETY VALVES AND OTHERS TEST

Pick up Kelly and connect one crossover (3-1/2’’IF.box*3-1/2’’IF.box), then install full-
open safety valve on bottom of lower Kelly valve. Using an adaptor, connect to test
pump.
Fill in the Kelly (through rig pump) system with water.
1. Pressure test full open safety valve. Close full open safety valve, open Kelly
cock and other surface high-pressure valve. Conduct the low-pressure test first
at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-
pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes.
2. Pressure test lower Kelly cock. Close lower Kelly cock, open safety valve
and other related surface high-pressure valves. Conduct the low-pressure test
first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-
pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes.
3. Pressure test upper Kelly cock. Close upper Kelly cock, open lower Kelly
cock, safety valve and other related surface high-pressure valves. Conduct the
low-pressure test first at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then
conduct the high-pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten
minutes.
4. Pressure test inside BOP. Connect inside BOP bellow the full open safety
valve, open all valves through the standpipe. Conduct the low-pressure test first
at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-
pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes.
5. Pressure test emergency kill line. Connect test pump with one end of
emergence kill line, close casing head valve, Conduct the low-pressure test first
at a pressure of 300psi. Hold on for ten minutes. Then conduct the high-
pressure test next at a pressure of 2500psi. Hold on ten minutes.
