Exit wound

The “goodbye” lesion that a bullet or other projectile causes when leaving the body; EWs are
often larger than the entrance wound, due to tumbling and deformation of the bullet
Entrance wound
The first lesion that a bullet or other projectile causes when entering the body. Choking or
throttling. The arrest of respiration resulting from occlusion of the air passage or arrest of the
circulation in part because of compression.
Puncture or penetrating wound
a traumatic injury caused by skin penetration by an object, such as a knife, nail, or slender
fragment of metal, wood, glass, or other material. In such an injury to the eye, a lung, or a visceral
organ, the object or implement is not removed until the person has been transported to a medical
facility. Minor puncture wounds are treated with thorough cleansing. If a puncture wound is
allowed to close at the skin before deeper healing has occurred, suppuration often results. A
tetanus toxoid immunization is usually given for such wounds.
Homicidal wound
Wounds that are given to some body for the intention of murder, In homicidal attempts,
bullets come from front and/or obliquely or by any sharp weapon where defensive wound found.

tissues.
Perforating wound

Puncture wound penetrating

Chronic, nonhealing wound in which there is granulation tissue but the overlying skin does not
adhere. Seen most commonly in the axillae or groin of cats.
Sucking wound
