MOTIVATIONAL CLIMATE IN MEDIA ORGANIZATIONS

ABSTRACT

Working environment of Media organisations is quite different from other types of business
organisations, because products which news based media organisations sell to its customers is
fleeting in nature. Usually, there is intense competition among news based media organisations
all over the world. News is made every second all over the world. Media organisations vie with
one another to have highest readership or viewership. Working environment should be usually
charged and internal climate should be conducive to get the best from the employees. Factors
like orientation, structure, trust, innovation and change, etc. plays important role in motivating
employees. If there is conductive internal climate then employees can contribute more to the
organization. Organisations have to assess internal environment from time to time so as to make
necessary changes to help employees feel comfortable. Job satisfaction of employees is
important for functioning of organizational efficiency. Constant supervision, incessant
communication, quick decision making and calculated risk taking in an organization facilitate
employees to motivate to aspire higher goals. Media products are creative in nature and needs
approval of the readers or viewers. Internal climate in media organizations should provide
platform to employees to bring out the best in them. Success of an organization depends on
highly charged employees as they work committed towards organizational goals. They will do
their best to realize organizational objectives. Good motivation climate leads to job satisfaction.
