Reflection 3 Chapter one Section 2: The devoplemnt of sociology
1) the reasons of development of sociology
the political and social change that took
place in Europe due to the industrial revolution. The factory replaced home as the main site for manufacturing. With growth of factories came the growth of cities, as people left home in search of work. The rapid growth of urban populations produced a multitude of social problems. Housing shortages developed, crime increase, and population became a major problem.
2) the industrial revolution:
after the industrial revolution France, German, and Britain was the most countries got effected by it. there were some European scholars that the got early influential by sociology.
3) The European scholars that developed
sociology:
August Comet: people know him as the funder
of the subject.
Harriet Matineu: she is the one that published
the book of “American society” based on her journey in American.
Spenser: he adapted the social Darwinism.
Karl marks: marks believed that the structure of
society is influenced by economy organization. Emile Durkheim: Durkheim saw the society as interdependent parts that works together to make the society flourish.
4) American scholars:
Chicago school: Chicago school said that if
you are going to study sociology you have to find solution to the sociological problems.
