Holiday to Hongkong

Hi, my name is Sasha. I am going to have a long holiday next month. It will be about two
weeks. My family and I are going to go to Hongkong. We are going to spend five days there.
We have planned a trip to Hongkong since January. Have you been there?

Hongkong is my first place abroad that I will travel to. I am so excited about it. This month we
will arrange our trip itineary. So, after school I’ll browse some places to visit. I’ll also watch
some Hongkong travel videos.

Hongkong Disneyland is a place that will be put in our first list. I love almost all of Walt
Disney’s movies. Besides, we’ll also go to Macau because my mother really wants it. I am sure
we’ll have so much fun there. What about you, where are you going to go when you have a
long holiday?

Sister’s Birthday

Next Thursday is going to be my younger sister’s birthday. She will be 10 years old. We are
going to have a simple but awesome birthday party. My sister gave us the idea to celebrate her
birthday last week. She is a creative girl so she wants to include Art and Creativity. In other
words, everything for the party will be handmade.

Everyone has their own job. My siblings and I will create handmade decorations. My sister
will decide the theme and tell us what to make. We’ll paint, cut, glue, draw, and do many more
creative activities. We are going to start doing it tomorrow. Our father will buy everything we
need for the decoration. Our mother will make the birthday cake and prepare food as well as
drink. I believe it’ll be the coolest party we have ever had.

Self Affirmation

I am sure that tomorrow will be a big day. I’ll wake up at 4 o’clock in the morning. I never
wake up so early this year so it’s going to be a good start. I have already made a list of activities
I am going to do tomorrow.

First of all, I am going to do self affirmation. Some says that self affirmation will influence my
day in a positive way. How will I do self affirmation? Let me think for a while. Hhmm, I’ll be
grateful for what I have achieved. I will appreciate myself and focus on my strength. Thinking
of other people’s kindness will make me feel good. Then, I’ll think of my goal that will
motivate me to move forward. Self affirmation will take about 30 minutes.

I like theater and I am a big fan of Reza Rahadian. I love his performance; it is very natural.
He is an Indonesian actor who started his career as a model. I’ll learn how to act and will join
a theater club. If I keep on learning and being consistent, I am sure that I will be an Indonesian
actress someday. I really want to play one scene with him. I believe my dream will come
true.Second, I am going to watch some videos about negative and positive thinking. I have
prepared those videos which are about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Third, I am going to do yoga. I
love yoga. I have joined yoga class for three months. Finally, I’ll do my morning routine and
go to work. Yeay, it’s going to be wonderful!

Many of my friends say that they will be an employee after graduation. But I have a different
plan. I will not be an employee. I am going to be a freelancer. Working as a freelancer will let
me manage my time; I’ll be my own boss. Besides, I want to be a businessman. Soon I’ll launch
a technology product that I have been creating. I am sure I will be a successful entrepreneur
someday.

The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a bloodborne virus that causes inflammation of the liver. This
inflammation can lead to permanent liver damage.Hepatitis C is contracted only through direct
contact with the blood of a person infected with HCV. Possible routes of infection include:

sharing needles used for injected drugs

using unsterilized needles for tattoos, body piercing, or acupuncture

accidental needle stick or blood contact in a healthcare setting

being born to a mother infected with HCV

sexual contact with a person infected with HCV

Blood screening to detect hepatitis C has been routinely used in the United States since 1992.
For this reason, new cases of infection due to contaminated blood transfusions or organ
transplants are very rare in the U.S.

Still, chronic hepatitis C affects 3.5 million people in the United States alone, and about 71
million worldwide. It’s a serious disease that can cause long-term health problems, including
liver damage, liver failure, or even death. Yet significant advances in hepatitis C treatments
have led to higher cure rates, fewer side effects, and shorter treatment times.
Some people with hepatitis C don’t need any treatment. In these cases, the body’s immune
system is able to knock out an acute hepatitis C infection. Many people with hepatitis C,
however, need medical intervention to cure the infection and prevent long-term complications.

Treatments for hepatitis C include various combinations of antiviral medications. These need
to be taken for at least several weeks, and up to 24 weeks. The goal of drug treatment is to:

rid the body of the hepatitis C virus (having no virus detected at least 12 weeks after treatment
is completed)

slow down or prevent inflammation and damage to the liver

prevent or reduce the odds of developing cirrhosis or liver cancer

Past treatments

Until 2010, the drugs most commonly used for hepatitis C treatment were forms of interferon
and the antiviral drug ribavirin. Interferon treatments are given by injection, and ribavirin is
given as a pill.

Interferon is a naturally occurring protein that the body makes to fight viruses and bacteria.
Interferon and ribavirin treatments were typically given for 24 or 48 weeks and were not very
effective — 40 to 50 percent of people saw their HCV infection clear following treatment.
Certain HCV genotypes fared even better, clearing the virus in up to 80 percent of patients.
Many people had unsuccessful therapy and would continue to live with HCV infection.

When interferon is given by injection, it can cause very unpleasant side effects, making it
intolerable for many people. Some of the more common adverse reactions to interferon therapy
include:

fatigue

rash and other skin issues

persistent cough and shortness of breath

anemia

flu-like symptoms (fever, muscle aches, and headache)

nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea

anxiety and mood changes

depression

thyroid changes

vision disorders

autoimmune disease

The first oral non-interferon drug regimen

Sofosbuvir (Sovaldi) is a direct-acting antiviral agent (DAA) that was approved by the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration in 2013. DAAs can target the hepatitis C virus in every stage
of its lifecycle. This is very different from injectable interferon, which worked by activating
the body’s immune system.

Sofosbuvir can be used without interferon, can be taken orally, has fewer side effects, and can
cure many people with hepatitis C in just 12 weeks.

Sofosbuvir was part of the first non-interferon combination treatment for people with the most
common types of hepatitis C (genotypes 1, 2, 3, and 4). Sovaldi is expensive but it can be very
effective for many people with hepatitis C. Some researchers claim that up to 90 percent of
HCV patients can be cured.

New treatments are here

In the last five years, many new treatment options for hepatitis C have been approved. These
include:

NS5A inhibitors: daclatasvir, elbasvir, ledipasvir, ombitasvir, pibrentasvir, velpatasvir

NS5B (polymerase) inhibitors: dasabuvir, sofosbuvir

HCV protease inhibitors: asunaprevir, boceprevir, glecaprevir, grazoprevir, paritaprevir,

simeprevir, telaprevir, voxilaprevir

Combination therapies: Epclusa, Harvoni, Mavyret, Technive, Viekira Pak, Vosevi, Zepatier
These new drugs and combination therapies work mainly by stopping the hepatitis C virus from
replicating (reproducing) in your body. This is thought to cause the decline and elimination of
infected liver cells.

Many of these newer drugs can provide more effective and efficient treatment with fewer side
effects, and can cure the disease much faster than previous methods.

Liver transplant

A liver transplant is generally an option of last resort for people with HCV or other types of
liver disease. However, a liver transplant may be needed if you have irreversible end-stage liver
damage. A donor liver may be either a whole organ from a deceased donor or a portion of the
organ from a living donor.

Unfortunately, a transplant does not equal a cure in people with hepatitis C. Recurrence of
HCV after transplant is inevitable, unless antiviral medications are used. Another possibility
after transplant is rejection of the donor organ by the recipient’s body. In some cases, further
transplantation may be suggested.

If you have chronic hepatitis C, discuss available treatment options with your doctors. With
recent advances, you may find a drug combination or therapy regimen that works faster and
better for you.

You may have seen numerous literature and commercials about chronic hepatitis C (HCV) and
for good reason. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), up to
3.9 million people in the United States may have the chronic form of this virus. According to
the World Health Organization (WHO), over 70 million people are affected worldwide.

What exactly is chronic HCV? In a nutshell, it refers to ongoing inflammation of your liver.
But it can lead to symptoms throughout your body. Over time, living with this condition can
cause your body to be especially vulnerable to serious health complications.

HCV is transmitted through contact with the blood. It’s rarely transmitted through sexual
contact from someone infected with the virus. Ultimately, this infection leads to liver
inflammation and a host of other issues that can severely damage your health.

The virus has two stages, acute and chronic. The acute stage happens within six months of
being exposed to the virus. For some, this is a short-term illness. But according to the CDC,
most people — about 75 to 80 percent — will develop chronic HCV. This means it can be
lifelong. Most people don’t realize they have the virus until other symptoms within their body
start.

Although the hepatitis A, B, and C viruses all cause hepatitis, they are three different and
distinct viruses.

Your liver

The liver’s job is to process blood and filter toxins from your body. It produces proteins,
important blood components, and bile, which helps you digest food. It also stores glucose and
vitamins. HCV causes inflammation that interrupts the liver’s ability to perform these vital
functions.

Early symptoms may be mild and easily dismissed but early treatment is critical to preventing
serious damage. When a chronic infection occurs, it can cause cirrhosis, or scarring of the liver,
over time. As HCV progresses, symptoms like skin problems, blood disorders, and weight loss
may appear. Dangerous outcomes like severe liver damage, liver cancer, and liver failure can
also occur.

A blood test can measure HCV antibodies in your bloodstream. If you have antibodies it means
you’ve been exposed to the virus. In most cases, you’ll need to take a second blood test for
your doctor to confirm an HCV infection.

Digestive system

A healthy liver is crucial to your health as it supports many other body systems. One function
of the liver is to produce bile, a substance needed to break down fats. Your body stores bile in
the gallbladder, then sends it to the beginning section of the small intestine when needed. Bile
is then combined with stomach acids and digestive fluids from the pancreas, which help the
intestines absorb nutrients into the bloodstream.

HCV can severely hinder the liver’s ability to produce bile. Poor bile production can make it
difficult and uncomfortable to digest fatty foods. You also might feel some pain throughout the
abdomen from a buildup of fluid in the stomach. This is known as ascites. It occurs when the
damaged liver doesn’t produce enough albumin, a substance that regulates the amount of fluid
in cells.

Severe pain can occur if your gallbladder becomes inflamed from HCV. This is an extremely
rare cause of gallbladder inflammation and only occurs in the acute stage of the virus.
When your liver doesn’t filter toxins from the blood, it can damage the central nervous system.
This can lead to a variety of symptoms like sweet or musty breath, difficulty with small motor
skills, and sleep disturbances. Dry eyes and mouth are sometimes associated with HCV.

In addition to filtering toxins, the liver also produces proteins needed for healthy blood and
helps to regulate blood clotting. A poorly functioning liver can create blood flow problems and
increase pressure in the portal (main) vein that leads to the liver. This can result in portal
hypertension, which may force blood to find alternate veins. These veins can burst, causing
variceal bleeding. This is severe internal bleeding.

A poorly functioning liver is unable to properly absorb, transport, and store iron. This can result
in anemia.

Integumentary system (skin, hair, and nails)

Hepatitis C is associated with a wide variety of skin problems. Some common conditions
include easy bruising, loss of skin pigment, rashes, and itching. Bilirubin is an important
substance that comes from the break down of hemoglobin. When the liver can’t do its job,
bilirubin can build up and cause jaundice, or the yellowing of your skin and the whites of your
eyes. Poor liver function can also lead to poor nutrition. This leads to inadequate growth of hair
and nails as well.
