The first complete system with IEC 61850
IEC 61850 has been created by users and manufac-
turers alike. The internationally agreed purpose of this standard is to obtain an integrated communica- tion solution for substations. Users have access to open systems based on Ethernet communication technology. The object-oriented structure covers protection and control functions and thus makes substation management more efficient. Not just short-term savings in operation and maintenance, but also simplified engineering, reduced complexity and long-term expandability will make you a winner in tomorrow‘s energy market.
SICAM® PAS (Power Automation System) meets all
the demands of a state-of-the-art distributed control system, and will continue to do so in the future. This new substation control system from Siemens is of open design and uses IEC 61850 as the communica- tion standard between the bay and station control levels. IEC 61850 supports direct data exchange between bay units as well as inter-bay interlocks, and provides a basis for vendor-independent system- construction.
SIPROTEC® – the standard for numerical protective
relaying – has established itself in all applications right across the market. SIPROTEC protective relays and bay control units are the first to feature IEC 61850. And all SIPROTEC 4 devices supplied since 1998 can be upgraded to IEC 61850 by replacing the communi- cation modules and updating the firmware. With the substation configurator, which is part of DIGSI® 4, SIPROTEC devices as well as devices of other manu- Meet the standard facturers can be easily configured in accordance with IEC 61850. IEC 61850 What are you waiting for? The standard IEC 61850 for communication in sub- stations has been validated and tested. It‘s ready and available now.
Progress. It‘s that simple.
