General Rules

1. Only participants or observers with ID cards are allowed to enter the competition
area.
2. STRICTLY prohibited to bringing food / drink in the competition area.
3. Participant / observer are sugested to bring own jacket to the competition area,
because the room temperature is very cold.
4. Have to bring own battery for robot which rent from committee or have your own by
using AERO AA and AAA battery type as Exclusive battery partner.
5. Participants MUST bring along all necessary items (laptops, batteries, robotics parts).
6. STRICTLY prohibited to exchange media transfer such as external hard disk, flashdisk,
etc.
7. Participant are not allowed to out from competition area while competition is in
progress.
8. Participants queue number will be moved to the bottom if has called 3x not present in
the competition area.
9. General robot specification are limited to:
a. 1 kg weight
b. Maximum dimension 20cm (length) x 20cm (width) x 20cm (height)
c. Shall not use rechargeable battery.
d. There are exceptions on Drone Racing FPV, Drone Coding, Rero Survival and
Science Project (please refer to each rule details).
10. Can share the same robot for the same institution/school.
11. In the event of category level with less than 10 teams the committee reserves the right
to combine the level become open level or you can change to another game category.
12. Categories of this competition are:
a. TEAM, with maximum 2 participants for Soccer Cup, Coding Mission “Bridge of
Friendship” Categories.
b. INDIVIDUAL, Rero Survival, Drone Coding Mission, Drone Racing FPV, Sumo, Item
Recycle.
c. Science Project category: TEAM with minimum 2, maximum 5 participants.
13. Observer are NOT ALLOWED to have direct communication with the participants
during the competition. If they have any urgent request, kindly approach our staff.
14. Participants should take care of personal belongings as the organizer will NOT BE
RESPONSIBLE for any losses.
15. As the venue is a public location, students are reminded to observe their behaviors at
all times.
16. Please DO NOT DAMAGE the venue properties. The organizer will not be liable for any
damages and serious action will be taken.
17. In the event of any disagreement or misunderstanding, the judges’ decision will be
final.
18. If there are any changes to the rules and regulations, it will be announced to all
participants 7 days before the competition starts. The judges will have full
authority to explain and enforce the rules for all the competition.

19. Prior to the start of the competition, all robots will undergo an inspection. If the robots
do not meet the requirements, participants will be given a grace time of
15 mins to modify their robots, otherwise the participants will be disqualified.
20. If the robots encounter any technical difficulty before the start of the match, they will
be given 1 mins to do the changes to the robot.
21. Participants are not allowed to touch their robots and/or remote controls during the
competition unless instructed by the judges.
22. Any act of cheating and non-compliance with the rules (disturbing the Remote Signal
/ RF / Bluetooh frequency) will be IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED and BLACKLISTED
from the ARCC & International Competition Event.

Game Method Tournament

1.0. Objective
To promote team work and test student ability to construct a robot with high
stability and controlling skill to play soccer game.

2.0. Robot Dimension and Weight


1. The size of the robot at the starting box shall not exceed 20cm (H) x 20cm (W) x
20cm (L). However, robot is not allowed to expand to any size after the game starts.
2. The maximum weight of the robot is 1000 grams (Include batteries).

3.0. Restriction on Robot Design


1. Only MRT parts are to be used to build the robot. There is no limitation to the amount
of blocks used to build the robot. You are allowed to cross use the parts from the
above mentioned systems for the robots.
2. However, ONLY maximum 2 number of DC motors and 1 mainboard are allowed to
use for for the competition.
3. Robot built is allowed to modify the mechanical parts (painting/folding) but not
electronic parts. If found guilty, the player would be IMMEDIATELY disqualified.
4. Robots shall not damage any part of the field or obstacles deliberately.
5. Robots are not allowed to have any power supply above 9V DC (Volt of Direct
Current). VAC (Volt of Alternating Current) power supplies are strictly prohibited for
safety reasons.
6. Robots shall not cause any danger to the arena and surroundings in anyway
whatsoever.
7. Robots RC receivers will need to be protected from any outside interferences.
8. Robot cannot be design in a closed structure to handle the ball. The judge will check
the robot structure before the competition begin.

4.0. Game Rules


4.1. Length of a Match
1. Each game is stipulated for 3 minutes.

2. The participant who remote controls the robot shall keep distance with the game
field area without touching or disturbing the game field.

4.4. Competition Tasks


1. All the games will be based on “knock out” system. All the teams will be
distributed in opposing pairs by ISEF committee randomly.
2. Each team shall consist of 2 robots and 2 paticipants with each participants
controlling one robot.
3. During the match, the participants who control their robot please keep distance
with game field, and don’t touch or damage the field.
4. A robot not allowed to handle the ball for more than 5 seconds.
5. Upon removal of a robot from the playing field, it can only re-enter the game
upon referee’s approval.
6. Robots can deploy any tactics or maneuvers, as long as it does not constitute a
foul.
7. The robot can only stay within the penalty area for a maximum of 5 seconds.
Participant will be warned by the jury to move their robot if the robot stay within
the penalty area more than 10 second.
8. Extra time of 1 minute shall be played only in the event of a draw.
9. Sudden death shall be played only in the event of draw on extra time.
10. The parts which are fallen or broken from the robots cannot be fixed back onto
the robots during the match, unless permitted by jury.
11. While the match is in progress, at any time the jury whistles, the participants
should stop the robot.

4.5. Deciding the Winner


1. Within 3 minutes, the team with highest goals will be the winner.
2. The ‘knock-out’ stage shall not consist of any points and the winner of the game
shall proceed to the next round.
3. The time limit for extra time shall be 1 minute.
4. In the event of a DRAW by the end of extra time, ‘Sudden Death’ time shall
decide the match in the event both teams are still tied for score. The team that
missed the first ball, loses the game.

4.6. Disqualification
1. Touching the robots while the match is in progress.
2. Robot does not comply with the size restrictions.

1.0. Objective
Sumo is a game that test and challenge the participant’s ability to construct and
programmed a remote controlled wheeled or legged robot to pass through the runway
and push opponent out of the game field (white colour).

2.0. Robot Dimension and Weight


1. The size of the robot at the starting box shall not exceed 20cm (H) by 20cm (W) by
20cm (L). However, robots are allowed to expand to any size after the game starts.
2. The maximum weight of the robot is 1000 grams (Include batteries).

3.0. Restriction on Robot Design


1. Sumo category will be held for Junior A, Junior (B,C) Level is sumo legged robot.
2. Sumo category will be held for Senior Level is sumo wheeled robot

4.4. Competition Task
1. All the games will be based on “knock out” system. All the participants will be
distributed in opposing pairs by ISEF committee randomly.
2. Both robots must attempt to cross over to the other half of the opponent side
and engage the opponent robot as soon as the match starts. The robot can
deploy any tactics or maneuvers, as long as it does not constitutes a foul.
3. Within 60 seconds, the robot pushed the opponent robot off the playfield first
considered wins. Rematch will be carried out when both robots fall off from
the playfield.
4. In case of the robot’s body is out from the game field more than half or unable
to return back into the game field, it is considered as lose.
5. Robots MUST be placed behind the start line on the runway before the match
starts.
6. Robots are to remain stationary until the START whistle has been blown.

4.5. Deciding the Winner


1. Win (Push the robot opponent robot outside the play field or not able to move
back into the play field) winner score 2 marks.
2. Lose (Half of the robot’s body being push out by opponent to the runway or
not able to moveback into play field) loser score 0 mark.
3. Draw (each participant robots still moving and stay inside the play field) both
scored 1 mark.
4. In the event of a draw, one of robot participant will be placed in back to back
position and continue the final round to get the winner.

4.6. Disqualification
A team shall be disqualified if it commits any of the following during the match:
a. Robot does not comply with the size restrictions.
b. Not attempting to engage the opponent robot as soon as the match starts.
c. Touching the robot while the match is in progress.

1.0. Objective
The goal of this game is to test students’ ability to construct and program robot to
follow line. This game relies heavily on good communication and teamwork.

2.0. Robot Dimension and Weight


The size of the robot at the start and end box shall not exceed 20cm (H) by 20cm (W)
by 20cm (L). Robots are NOT allowed to expand at any time

3.0. Restriction on Robot Design


1. Only MRT Series, MRT-X & HUNA educational robot kit (not include My Robot Time
Toy series and MRT Soccer Robot) parts are to be used to build the robot. There is no
limitation to the amount of blocks used to build the robot. You are allowed to cross
use the parts from the above mentioned systems for the robots
2. May use maximum up to 5 IR sensors, 4 DC motors, 1 tracer sensor block and 1
mainboard are allowed to use for the competition.
3. Robots shall not damage any part of the field or obstacles deliberately.
4. Robots are not allowed to have any power supply more than 9V DC (MRT Robot Kit).
VAC (Volt of Alternating Current) power supplies are strictly prohibited for safety
reasons.
5. Robots shall not cause any danger to the arena & surroundings in anyway
whatsoever.
6. Robots will need to protect their sensors if necessary from any outside interference.
7. The robot design needs to take into account of crossing small gaps between two cards

4.0. Game Rules


4.1. Length of a Match
1. Each game is stipulated for 3 minutes only.
2. In the following cases, a match will end before 4 minutes.
a. When both the robots reached the end point.
b. In the event of disqualification.
c. When the referees judge sees that continuation of the match is impossible.
d. First robot unable to reach the End point will have one more attempts. Game
stop if second attempt fail.
e. Completion of time.
f. Second robot unable to reach the Start point also has another attempt if the
first attempts failed. Game stop if second attempt fail.

4.3. Starting the Robot


1. Whistle will be blown as a sign of start of the match.
2. Participants is allowed to start (switch on) the robot using single switch
operation.

4.4. Completion Task


1. One participant stays at Start Point area and the other one stays at End Point
area with their robot placed at the Robot box accordingly.
2. The route cards will be placed at the Stack of Cards box (each box has Straight
Line Card x 15, Curve Line Card x 10 and one Start & End Point Card). There are 3
routes for participant to choose randomly. (refer to route section below).
3. Whistle will be blown as a sign at start of the match and participants start to
place the cards onto the map according to the chosen route. One card can only
put on a square box on the map that fit to the size of the card. Timing will begin
after whistle blown.
4. Participants have to first place the Start Card on the Start Box and End Card on
the End Box. Then, arrange the route (using the cards provided) to let the robot
across the bridge at the center and then to the end point. Shape of the arranged
route is not allow to change during the game.
5. Once the route is arranged (continuous line from start to end), put and turn on
the Line Tracing Robot at the Start point (any part of robot is not allow to exceed
the Start Card area) and let it move from start point to the end point.
6. If the referee judges that the continuation of the first robot is impossible, second
attempt is allow by referee instruction. The participant has to collect the robot
and turn it off then put it on the Start box again. The participants are allow to
tidy up the route(optional) if needed before the robot is turn on again. The timing
is keep on going.
7. Right after the first robot reached and stop at the end point, the robot can be
removed by the first participant with the approval of referee. Second robot now
can placed at End box (any part of robot is not allow to exceed the End Card area)
by the second participant and turn it on to let it move from End point to the Start
point. Before the second robot turn on, it is allow to tidy up (optional) the route
if needed.
8. If the referee judges that the continuation of the second robot is impossible,
second attempt is allow by referees instruction. The participant has to collect the
robot and turn it off then put it on the End box again. The participants are allow
to tidy up the route if needed before the robot is turn on again. The timing is
keep on going.
9. The parts which are fallen or broken from the robots cannot be fixed back onto
the robot during match.
10. Once the robot is moving, participants MUST keep a distance from the map and
not allow to touch the robot and the cards on the route. Participants can touch
the robot only with referee approval.

11. Participants only allow to touch or tidy up the route(optional) in the situation
below :
- Before second attempt start. (after first attempt failed, robot turn off and put
on the Start or End box).
- Before second robot start. (first robot reached the End box and second robot
put on End Box)
12. The cards of “Start” and “End” must be placed on the corresponding box, and
robot moves at “Start” box.
13. Timing will stop once all tasks completed

4.5. Deciding the Winner


1. The winner will be the team completed the task with highest point and shortest
time.

4.6. Points and Disqualification


1. Points
a. Robot that successfully crosses the bridge will be awarded 10 points.
b. Robot Stops at End Point (For robot 1) and Start Point (For robot 2) will be
awarded 5 points each accordingly.
c. Arrange the cards follow the chosen route, 10 points for the Start section
and 10 points for the End section.

2. Disqualification
a. Touching the robot while the match is in progress.
b. A stalemate of more than 5 seconds.
c. Robot does not comply with the size restriction.
d. Robot move out of the route for more than 5s (apply to second attempt
only).

6.0. Route
a. On the spot, one of the participant has to throw a dice to determine the route A, B
or C to arrange.

25cm (L). Robot is NOT allowed to expand at any time.

b. Aluminum : (2 pcs of AL Sprocket, 3 pcs of 15 AL Frame, 3 pcs of Pillar 6
pcs of Bolt-8mm, 6 pcs of bolt-16mm and 12 pcs of Nut).
c. Paper: MRT Paper Cup
3. There are 5 spots on the map where each spot has 3 pcs of different types
of recyclables. Participants have to separate and push each recyclable to
its destination (correct category)
4. Timing will begin after whistle blown.
5. All robots will be collected by referees before the competition begin,
cannot share the same robot with other participants.
6. The parts which are fallen or broken from the robots cannot be fixed back
onto the robot during match.
7. Timing will stop once all recyclables are cleared and robot back to BASE.

4.5. Deciding the Winner


1. The winner will be the participant who has scored the highest score and
back to BASE. If the participants scored the same points, the winner will be
the robot completed the mission with the shortest time.

4.6. Points, Penalties and Disqualification


1. Points
a. Points will be calculated after the game end. Each recyclable correctly
placed in the recycle storage will be awarded 5 points. Items which
place on the black line (not fully into the recycle bin) does score any
points.

2. Penalties
a. If recyclable is wrongly place in the recycle storage, 5 points will be
deducted for each recyclable.
b. If the recyclables not fully placed into the recycle storage, no point will
be awarded.

3. Disqualification
a. Touching the robot while the match is in progress.
b. A stalemate of more than 10 seconds.
c. Robot does not comply with the size restriction

5.0. Game Field

Assessment Method Presentation and evaluation by panel

1.0. Objective
Provide a platform for student to showcase their creativity, innovative and
programming skills. They are required to work together as a team to design a robot based
on the given theme. Besides, they will also need to present and demonstrate their robot
creation well to convince and impress the judges.

2.0. Project Dimension and Weight


1. The size and weight of the project is not limited.

3.0. Restriction on Project Design


1. There is no size and weight limitation for the robot.
2. Can use and add other materials such as camera, sensors, paper, rings, clips,
chopsticks, paper cups, etc.
3. Project shall not cause any danger to the arena and surroundings in anyway
whatsoever.
4. Project will need to protect their sensors if necessary from any outside interferences.

4.0. Rules
4.1. Method of a Match
1. Participants shall build a robot in advance.
2. Participants are given 1 hours duration to prepare their robot.
3. Each group has presentation time of 3 minutes to introduce their robots to the
referee.
4. Robots may be displayed in/around the venue. The team members or teacher
may keep the robots and explain to the public.

4.2. Competition Task


1. During the preparation time of robot, judges can interview the participants
randomly. Participant should answer the question sincerely as this is part of the
evaluation.
2. The question is related to the construction of the robot.
3. There are 2 round of assessment.
a. Round 1: participants should presenting their robot. After that, judges will
challenge participants to modify their mechanical (hardware) part or code
programming (software) depend on judges request. Each team will be given
10 minutes to prepare their modified robot on ROUND 2.
b. Round 2: Participant should showing their modified robot.

4.3. Theme: UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The 6 themes are selected among 17 SDGs proposed by the United Nations and
the addition of 1 general theme. The robot can be based on one of the following
field ONLY:
a. Zero Hunger.
b. Good Health and Well Being.
c. Clean Water and Sanitation.
d. Affordable and Clean Energy.
e. Sustainable Cities and Communities.
f. National Defense.

4.4. Robot Manual


1. Participants should submit the robot manual (in A4 size booklet) and the
related material such as poster, photos to the organizer before the
presentation.
2. The operation of the robot should according to manual.
3. The program coding of robots should provide to ISEF committee in advance.
4. The manual should consist of:
a. Robot Name.
b. Purpose.
c. Team member introduction and task allocation.
d. Introduction of the project.
e. Specification and feature.
f. How to program (if needed).
g. Functionality of robot.

4.5. Deciding the Winner


1. All winner’s robot design copyright (3D design file, programming source code,
etc) are belong to the organizer.
2. Participants must have one robot manual and their robot must be able to
function.
3. Score shall consist of :
a. Relevance to theme
b. Creativity and Uniqueness
c. Robot Functionality
d. Team work
e. Presentation skill

4.6. Disqualification
A team shall be disqualified if it commits any of the following during the match :

1.0. Objective
To test students’ skill in programming of high stability drone to complete the mission.

2.0. Weight and Size of the Model


1. The total weight of the drone including all equipment necessary for flight (including
batteries) shall not exceed 1000 g.
2. The battery specification, maximum propellers diameter should strictly adhere to the
instruction manual.

3.0. Game Rules


3.1. Length of a Match
1. Programming, trial, and match session will be given for 3 hour.
c. Programming: 1 hours.
d. Trial and match: 2 hours.
e. When match session, each team have only 5 minutes to run their robot.

3.2. Starting the Drone


1. Whistle will be blown as a sign of start of the match.
2. The participant shall keep a distance from the game field during the game.

3.3. Competition Task


1. Once the game started, the drone must go through the route of the game to
complete all the mission set.
2. Robot must STOP at the END POINT after finished all the missions for time
recording purpose.

4.0. Deciding the Winner


1. Robot reached the END POINT with highest marks will win the competition.
2. Total 8 Missions (air gate). Each Successfully completed mission will be awarded 10
points.
3. 5 point will be awarded in case an air gate or an obstacle that needs to be crossed is
not effectively crossed or touch the air gate.
4. The winner will be the participants who able to complete the task with highest score
in the shortest time.
5. If the score is the same for two participants, the shortest time will be the winner.

1.0. Objective
To fly and perform as possible in the flying circuit. Take-off from the runway and
landing on the runway.

2.0. Weight and Size of the Model


1. The total weight of the model including all equipment necessary for flight (including
batteries) shall not exceed 1 kg.
2. Distance between axes of the engines shall be less than 150 mm. This distance is
measured on the diagonal of the engines’ axes.

3.0. Power Source


1. Battery power shall not exceed 7.4 v (2S).

4.0. Restriction on Drone Design


1. Maximum propellers diameter is 80 mm.
2. Full metal propellers are forbidden.

5.0. Game Rules


5.1. Length of a Match
1. Each game is stipulated for 3 minutes.
2. 1 minutes setup and practice flight time is provided before the start of each match.

5.2. Competition Task


1. All the match will be based on “knock out” system. All the pilots will be distributed
in opposing pairs by ISEF committee randomly.
2. The winner of a match shall proceed to the next round.
3. During the match, the pilot must remain inside the pilot area.
4. Pass all the air gate in case to get the point.
5. In case an air gate or an obstacle that needs to be crossed is not effectively
crossed, the pilot may try to execute a maneuver to cross the air gate or the
obstacle again without touch the drone.

5.3. Deciding The Winner


1. Within 3 minutes, the pilot with fastest time and highest point will be the
winner.
