Section A:
We would like to invite you to take part in our study. Before you decide we would like you
to understand why the research is being done and what it would involve for you. One of
our team will go through the information sheet with you and answer any questions you
have. Talk to others about the study before making a decision if you wish.
The purpose of this study is to find out more about the steps you take when foraging for
wild food and what would could be a useful aid to you. I am also looking to find out more
about the foraging community overall and how you interact.
I (Hannah Brzezinka) will be carrying out this research myself, with supervision from Jon
Sutton and Dr. Steve Summerskill. This study is part of a Student research project
supported by Loughborough University.
You should not partake in this study if you have not “foraged” before.
You will be asked a set of questions about the steps you take when foraging, and about
any friends/people you know who forage.

and you will not be asked to explain your reasons for withdrawing.
(for children – they should complete an Assent Form and their parents will complete an
Informed Consent Form)
However, once the results of the study are aggregated, (expected to be by 7/12/18), it may
not be possible to withdraw your individual data from the research.
Will I be asked to attend any sessions and where will these be?
It is not necessary to attend any sessions for the interview stage, as this can be
communicated via telephone, it may be necessary to meet with myself to test potential
prototypes. This can be located wherever you are most comfortable.
The interview stage will take a maximum of 15 minutes, and prototype testing will last 10-
20 minutes.
