Welcome
to the world of Möller-Wedel’s operating microscopes. Counterweight to balance
For 147 years we have been pioneers in the develop- the stand within the pro-
ment of high precision optical systems for medicine tected area of the
and science. pushbar

Our trendsetting developments originate from intensive

international interchange of ideas with physicians. Their Lamp modules
demands are the guide line for the design of our operat-
ing microscopes.

We guarantee high precision in the fields of optics,

electronics, and mechanics through our experienced
research and production teams who transform inno-
vative ideas into our top class operating microscopes
‘Made in Germany’.

Möller-Wedel stands for innovative technology allow-

ing the surgeon full concentration on the operation.
Lasting quality and, last but not least, worldwide quick
and competent support ensure a long lifetime of our
operating microscopes.

Compact base,
carriage moves in all directions

Due to the patented construction the floor

stand FS 4-20 will always remain balanced
(PermaBalance).

The filigreed components of the stainless steel arm

system, the soft shapes and colors, the covered ca-
bles, easy cleaning, and easy disinfection are essential
features. The pushbar provides light movement of the
stand, protection against moving parts, and is a mount-
ing rail for the imaging unit MÖLLER MIOS and the
control panel.

03
SensoServo Drive
Fly-by-wire technology

The SensoServo system of the operating microscope

MÖLLER Hi-R 1000 uses ‚fly-by-wire‘ technology to
move the microscope in all directions with utmost pre-
cision at minimal force.

The SensoGrip is equipped with programmable but-

tons to choose individual characteristics of movement
from enhanced friction to featherlight. Via a multifunc-
tion pad on the right SensoGrip the microscope can be
positioned without the need to open the brakes.

During operation the assistant may move the observer SensoGrip

scope without affecting the balance.

The optical properties comply with the highest stand-

ards. The apochromatic optics with the correction
of residual aberration provides perfect color fidelity,
strong contrast, and high resolution. Due to the unique
stereo base of 25 mm, an excellent depth perception
is achieved. Additionally, the integrated iris diaphragm
can be used to maximize the depth of field.

The variable objective lens permits working distances

from 224 mm to 510 mm (nominal) without lens ex-
change (optionally 200 mm to 450 mm).

04
Light and Imaging

The base of the floor stand houses two independent

powerful 300 W xenon light sources.

To protect the surgeon’s eyes and the patient’s

tissue, the light is filtered against ultraviolet and in-
frared radiation. The light intensity can be controlled
via hand grip or foot switch. Due to a special light
guidance the visual field retains its brightness at any
magnification. Diaphragms in the microscope head
may be selected during the operation to avoid glare.

For ALA and ICG applications the light sources

contain filters which are activated via a button on
the hand grip.

The arrangement of the light sources in the floor

stand base provides a slim design. The wire
connections are close to the functional parts in
the base, easily accessible but well protected
behind a cover. MÖLLER MIOS

MÖLLER MIOS
MIOS stands for Microscope Imaging and Operation
System. Its prime functions are recording of opera-
tion scenes, capturing and recording of snapshots
together with proper identification of patients and hospi-
MÖLLER Hi-R 1000 with M.DIS tal data. Images and/or streams can be stored on
DVD-R/-RW, HDD, USB sticks, external USB hard
disks, or transmitted to the hospital PACS via DICOM.

M.DIS
M.DIS (Microscope Display) turns the operating micro-
scope into a microsurgical image control center. The
high-resolution screen, mounted above the oculars,
provides images (e.g. for ICG angiography) or data
for the surgeon which he/she may see by momentarily
looking up from the oculars. The touch screen enables
controlling of video recordings and snapshots sterilely
through the drape.

ALA Fluorescence
Intraoperative tumor fluorescence

5-aminolevulinic acid, abbreviated ALA, is a natural When illuminated with blue light, the PPIX emits a
amino acid, which the human body metabolizes to rich red fluorescence and marks the tumor core with

ICG Fluorescence
Intraoperative fluorescence angiography

ICG
Indocyanine green, abbreviated ICG, is a medical dye
which emits infrared fluorescence when illuminated with
light of the appropriate wavelengths.

The dye is used for intraoperative angiographies,

particularly in neurosurgery for detection of stenoses,
leakages, and aneurisms.

The microsurgical operating system, equipped for ICG

application, includes a special infrared camera (in
addition to the white light camera) for detection of the
ICG fluorescence.

Before ICG injection Following the injection of the ICG solution in the
blood stream of the patient, the vessels become vis-
ible to the camera when the ICG flows by. Now, all
irregularities of the vessels can be seen on M.DIS
and MÖLLER MIOS displays.
