Instructional Objectives:
- Students will identify different emotions and which Colours may represent them.
Key Questions:
What are emotions?
Can we name some emotions?
What might be in the box?
What might these items mean?
Materials:
- Mystery Box
- The Colour Monster book
- 5 Jars – Labelled with Emotions.
- Blue Items
- Yellow Items
- Red Items
- Black Items
- Green Items
These items go along with the items in the Colour Monster story They will be sorted
into their corresponding jars
Preparation:
- Have Jars Labelled with the five emotions in the colour monster book.
- Have all items inside the box.
- Print out Worksheets and Colour sheet.
I can statement:
- I can identify which emotions correspond with each color.
Lesson Procedure:
1. Introduction:
- Introduce the mystery box that you may have. Have students guess what might be
in the box.
- Have the special helper open the box and put the items on the counter.
- Ask students again what these items might mean.
5. Conclusion:
- Conclude by reviewing the different emotions and how we can identify them with
Colours!
*This lesson was used in a kindergarten classroom* It was used to teach the emotions and
how we might identify them to young students. This activity could be modified and used
differently to take a deeper look at emotions.
