Internship Report

Introduction
Bhulleh Shah Packaging (Pvt.) Limited, a group of Packages Group Company, aims to
provide responsible packaging solutions for brands in Pakistan. BSP works with all kinds of
industries; ranging from textiles, dairy, snacks and many more. BSP is leading the market with
corrugated packaging together with being the largest renewable packaging facility. Today, 80%
of our portfolio includes some of the top local and international brands operating in Pakistan.

Being an internee, I have learned a lot about Supply Chain Management. Main sections
in supply chain department are procurement, logistics and commercial. I have worked mainly
in supply chain management logistics department.

Supply Chain Management Logistics

Mr. Owais Chippa is the head of the SCM Logistics department. The main tasks of the
logistics department involve storage, distribution, warehousing, movement of goods from one
place to another (internally or externally), tracking and delivery of goods. It includes a
complete process of planning, managing, controlling and coordination to make sure that the
goods reach the right place, at the right time, for the right cost and in a right condition. They
also ensure that all the requirements of the customers are met on time in an efficient and safe
manner. They coordinate with the third-party logistics. They ensure that there is safe and timely
dispatch of goods. They make sure that there is no time or cost constraint occurs.

As an internee, I learned about SCM main concepts such as seven rights of fulfilment,
SCM flows, SCM processes and the main functions of supply chain management. We were
also told about the incoterms that are developed by the International Chamber of Commerce as
a worldwide standard that are used in contracts of sale for expressing the rights and obligations
of buyers and sellers – specifically regarding the delivery of goods. We have also discussed the
payment methods i.e. Advance Payment, Open Account, Letter of Credit, CAD and EIF.

We discussed the pulps that they are importing. They import two types of pulp i.e.
ELDORADO & ARAUCO. Their international container types are 18, 20, 40, 45 and 60. 99%
percent of the movement in BSP is done through 20 and 40 types of container.
 There are two types of vessels i.e. passenger and cargo. Each vessel has different
capacity. Two types of international weights are used i.e. net weight and gross weight.

Invoicing Management includes three steps. 1. Invoice Park 2. Invoice Post 3. Invoice
Clear. SAP software is used for the invoice management. In this invoice is parked by user/
supply chain which is then received by Finance and Cost centre. Which is further posted by
them and the cash & bank clear the invoice and a cheque is issued.

There I worked on one window logistics project. It is a unified platform that gathers
data from multiple parties within the supply chain i.e. Freight Forwarders, Transporters,
Clearing Agents, Finance Department and Supply Chain Department. This portal contains all
the data required to perform day to day as well as managerial tasks. It is a vital step towards
automation of the existing manual procedures so to improve operational efficacy. My work in
this project was to identify the heads that are needed in the payment portion. Along with that I
also worked on the data I was given to see how much data is useful in it. I have also worked in
making changes in the layout of the one window logistic project.

Experience
It was an immense pleasure to work with a well-known organization in a comfortable
and friendly environment. Before the internship, my knowledge of supply chain management
logistics was minimal but now as I have completed my 4-week internship, I feel I really have
learned a lot. Being a part of BSP as an internee is a unique and promising experience.
