According to PTS 12.34.02 ‘clause 3.5.3’(see attachment behind), the extent of Non- destructive examination
requirement for GRP piping system components and joints shall be as per ISO 14692-4 including the following
as minimum: d) Ultrasonic examination requirement for adhesive bonded joint.

However there are some limitation to carry out/perform the UT test on GRE pipe. Here is the reason why we
can’t perform the testing as per required:-

1) Limitation of man power equipment, expertise, and capacity for the task from local NDT service
provider.
2) Yet, none of the Project( GRE) in malaysia perform ut test on Gre pipe so far.
3) Therefore, even GRE’s manufacture itself not experience perform UT test on GRE pipe weld joint
since the GRE pipe was produce by them from beginning.
4) Moreover, the UT requirement is not well establish in code standard, which is no mock up block and
calibration block to calibrate the UT equipment due to its unavailable locally.

Hence, company need to advise either contractor need to perform the testing as per PTS or waive the test
requirement for our own good.
