CHAPTER I
PRELIMINARY

A. Identification Problem
In learning English you will meet many types of words, one of which
is a conditional sentence. The hallmark of this sentence begins with the
word "if" the terms and terms of the result / consequence (outcome) of the
requirements.Conditional Sentence Type 1, 2, 3 (Definitions, Formulas,
and Examples) Conditional Sentences mean conditional sentences, this
sentence serves to declare something that may or may not happen as
expected. In general there are three types of Conditional type 1, 2.3.

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION

A. Understanding Conditional Sentence


Conditional Sentence is a sentence used to indicate something that
may or may not happen as expected.
Conditional sentence consists of two clauses, namely:
Main Clause (Parent Sentence) and IF Clause.
The location of the Main Clause can be in front of or behind IF Clause.
This location difference does not affect the meaning.

B. Conditional Sentence Function


1. To assume something that happens in the future.
2. To rely on something that is not possible now.
3. To assume something that has happened in the past.

C. Type Conditional Sentence


1. Type I: Future Conditional
This phrase reveals events that are expected to occur in the future and
are likely to occur.

Sentence Pattern:

If + S + Verb (present), S + will + Verb1


Sentence 1 Sentence 2

2. Type II: Present Conditional


This phrase declares the expected event happening now but does not
happen.

If + S + Verb 2 / were, S + would + Verb1

3. Type III: Past Conditional


This phrase declares events that were expected to happen in the past,
but did not happen.
Sentence Pattern:

If + S + had + Verb 3, S + would have + Verb 3

D. Example of Conditional Sentence Example


1. Example type I
 If I have free time, I will go swimming.
(Jika saya punya waktu luang, saya akan pergi berenang.)
 If you meet Andy, ask him to call me.
(Jika kamu bertemu Andy, minta dia menghubungi saya.)
 If you don’t finish your homework, your teacher will be angry.
(Jika kamu tidak menyelesaikan pekerjaan rumahmu, gurumu akan
marah.)
 If he doesn’t come, I won’t be angry. / Unless he comes, I won’t be
angry.
(Jika kamu tidak datang, saya tidak akan marah.)

 If he comes, I won’t be angry.
(Jika dia datang, saya tidak akan marah.)
 If they invite you, will you come?
(Jika mereka mengundangmu, akankah kamu datang?)
 If jack has money, he will pay his debt.
(jika jack punya uang, ia akan membayar hutangnya)
 If he gives me gifth, I will be happy
(jika ia memberikan saya hadiah, saya akan merasa gembira)
 If mom do not cook, we will go out to eat.
(jika ibu tidak masak, saya akan pergi keluar untuk makan)
 Mom will scold dad if he come late
(ibu akan memarahi ayah jika ia pulang terlambat)

2. Example type II
 If it rained tomorrow, I would sleep all day.
(Jika besok hujan, saya akan tidur sepanjang hari.)
 If Nisa studied hard, she would pass.
(Jika Nisa belajar keras, dia akan lulus.)
 If I had much money, I would buy a sport car.
(Jika saya punya banyak uang, saya akan membeli sebuah
mobil sport.)
 If I were a millionaire, I would donate my money to charity.
(Jika saya seorang millionaire, saya akan mendonasikan uang saya
untuk amal.)
 If Nisa studied hard, she wouldn’t fail.
(Jika Nisa belajar keras, dia tidak akan gagal.)
 If I were plant, I would love the sun.
(jika saya adalah tanaman, saya akan mencintai matahari)
 If jane did not come, you would go find her.
(jika jane tidak datang, kamu harus mencarinya)

 If I won the competition, lily would be envious of me.
(jika saya memenangkan kompetisi itu, lily akan merasa iri terhadap
saya)
 If I were you, I would slap john.
(jika saya adalah kamu, saya akan menampar john.

3. Example type III


 If you had remembered to invite me, I would have attended your
party.
(Jika kamu ingat untuk mengundang saya, saya akan hadir di
pestamu.)
 If I had given the interviewer really good answers, I might have got a
higher position than you.
(Jika saya memberi jawaban yang benar-benar bagus ke
pewawancara, saya mungkin memdapatkan posisi yang lebih tinggi
dari kamu.)
 If the waitress had been careful, she wouldn’t have broken many
plates.
(Jika pelayan tersebut hati-hati, dia tidak akan memecahkan banyak
piring.)
 If he had asked you for forgiveness, would you have forgiven him?
(Jika dia meminta maaf kepadamu, akankah kamu memaafkannya?)
 If I had know about that news, I would have told you.
(jika saya mengetahui tentang kabar itu, saya akan member
memberitahukannya kepadamu.)
 If I had earlier, I would not have gotten scolded by teacher.
(jika saya sampai lebih awal, saya tidak akan dimarahi ibu guru)
• If the drug routinely drunk the patient’s pain will be reduced
( jika obat rutin di minum rasa sakit pasien akan brkurang)
• If the doctor will visit, the nurse must accompany her
(jika dokter akan visit, perawat harus mndampingi nya)

E. Conversation
Patient: good morning sir, I want to ask where is the registration room?
Security guard: morning mrs,the registration room is in the lobby.
Patient: thank you sir.
Security guard: you are welcome, if you don’t know, I will take you to the
lobby
Patient: yes sir, thankyou so much..
( and then, the patient came to the registration room )
Patien: good morning mrs, I want to consult with obstetrician, what time is
the obstetrician’s schedule?
Receptionist; morning too, I will the doctor’s schedule.
Patient: if the doctor’s schedule is afternoon practice , I will come back
latter in the afternoon.
Receptionist; the obstetrician’s schedule is there later afternoon at 16.00
pm, you can come back here latter this afternoon.
Patient: yes mrs, thank you..
Receptionist: you are welcome..
( and then the patients go home, and returned to the hospital late in the
afternoon )
Patient: good afternoon doc..
Doctor: afternoon, can I help you ?
Patient: I want to consult, now I often feel dizzy and nauseous to vomit
every morning. I’am afraid something happens in my womb.
Doctor: well, please lie down..
Patient: yes doc..
Doctor: If you having trouble, I will help you to lie down.
Patients: thanks doc
(after being checked)

Patients: what about my womb? If something happens to my womb, I will
worry because this is my first child.
Doctor: your womb condition is fine,this complaint is called Morning
Sick, or others call it Cravings. If your nausea and dizziness is not
excessive, u don’t need to panic.
Patient: Alhamdulillah if nothing happened
Doctors: I will prescribe medicine to reduce nausea and dizziness.
Patients: thank you so much..
Doctors: you are welcome
( the checking has been completed and the patient goes to the pharmacy)
Patient: sorry sist, where is the pharmacy?
OB: the pharmacy is on the second floor next o the nutrition room
Patient: oh okay thankyou..
OB: if you have trouble getting to the top floor, you can use the elevator
Patient: thankyou so much
OB: youre welcome

CLOSING

A. Conclusion
Conditional Sentence is a sentence used to state something that may
or may not happen as expected. Conditional sentence consists of two
clauses, namely: Main Clause (Parent Sentence) and IF Clause.

Clause. This location difference does not affect the meaning. There are
several types of Conditional Sentence, namely:

B. Suggestions
The author is aware that in this writing there are still many
shortcomings. Therefore, the authors expect the criticism and suggestions
