Universal Design for Learning (UDL): In addition to posting the assignment on the class blog, I
will also send a paper copy of the directions. This provides my students with multiple ways of
perception of the information. Also, students will have the option of writing their narrative and taking
a picture of it to post on the blog or they can type it. This gives them options for expression and
communication.
Lesson idea implementation:
At home, students will be assigned to interview a family member on the class blog. Students will post
their answers on the blog. Then, the students will write a narrative based on their family member. At
the end, students will post their narratives on the class blog and comment on each other’s posts. The
family members will have access to read them as well.

Importance of technology: This project could be completed without technology. But, in order for
the families to participate in the project, it is helpful to have all of the narratives on the blog. Also,
students will be able to access the writing in the future and it will all be in one place.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Since students will be writing about personal experiences
with their family member, internet privacy may be an issue. To solve this problem, I will instruct my
students to only use first names in their writing. Also, students cannot post pictures. The class blog
will be password protected and only parents will have access to the code.
Reflective Practice: Overall, I believe this lesson has great potential. It allows students to put their
writing in a public platform.
