REPORT ON THE INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT POKARNA

LIMITED APPAREL DIVISION,HYDERABAD

On Thursday, 25th October,2018, an industrial visit held at POKARNA APPARELS

DIVISION,HYDERABAD.

We came across various new and interesting industrial experiences. We studied and gained
knowledge in terms of APPAREL TECHNOLOGY. We got the very much informative and important
knowledge by visiting the industry. Likewise, the various departments have been shown to us. The
industry is been currently working on the Shirts of Stanza brand.Following is the departments been
listed as per the work and operations carried out in the industry;

II. FABRIC CHECKING AND INSPECTION
III. PATTERN MAKING ; CHECKING
IV. SPREADING
V. CUTTING , RE-CUTTING,BLOCKING
VI. SORTING ,BUNDLING AND TAGGING
VII. STITCHING
VIII. FINISHING

As per the above mentioned departments, in store fabric is resourced in the rolled and
sometimes in opened width form. Then the fabric is handled in the Inspection department
where fabric is inspected. They are following 4 POINT CHECKING SYSTEM for the fabric
inspection, testing and checking is done as per meterage. Wherever the defects found,
stickering is done. Spreading of the fabric, cutting of the fabric. As the order is received and
the specifications in the Merchandising department, the style of the garment is checked,
pattern making is done, marker palnning is done, CAD is generally followed for better
efficiency .After the pattern and marker planning, the spreading is done followed by cutting
,blocking using Band knife cutting machine. Carried forward to stitching,
assembling,finishing, garment checking and measurements checking.80% is the minimum
efficiency for the size consumption, whereas they use the CAD systems only for the purpose
of marker efficiency. The stickering and numbering is done after the cutting of al the
components and these parts are been collected as per the sequence followed while
numbering them , during stitching the shirt this numbers and size code on stickers are
referred. After the stitching of all the components , they are assembled together ,loaded on
the clamps which are numbered. They are using ETON machineries for assembling. In the
finishing, the removal of extra threads ,button hole and button stitch, counting pieces ,
checking garment measurements is carried out. We also saw the Fusing and the Embroidery
department, the Stanza logo for shirts.

This experience at POKARNA industry, taught and gave us practical knowledge and activities,
Also the industrial environment is too healthy. The Per Day Production is 400 shirts. All
multi-skilled workers are working in the industry. This fun-loving and great visit made us to
know about the different operations performed in each department. The techniques and
skills used in garment processing and manufacturing.
