What Is o ISM is an Advanced Academic course that gives the students an
Independent opportunity to observe a certified adult professional from a
career field of their choice. In class, the teacher provides
Study assistance for the students and helps them design goals and
complete assignments that are specific to their career of
Mentorship? interest.

o Course Objectives:

❖ Document a minimum of at least 3 mentorship hours

❖ Create and Maintain a professional ISM portfolio.
❖ Complete an Activity log based on mentorship activity
every Monday on Its learning.
❖ Create A 15-20 minute Final Presentation and Product
at the end of the semester.
Project Topic: Types of ADHD
and Understanding the
Disorder

❖ My project topic for this semester is based on the


different types of ADHD, and how a patient can be
diagnosed and treated in each case. I chose this topic
because I know someone who is affected by ADHD from
childhood, and I was also able to meet several patients at
the clinic who suffered from acute to severe ADHD, which
peaked my interest toward the subject.

there is no proven “cure” to ADHD, then what can the parents do to help their
child facilitate and adapt better to daily life?

❖ I intend to create a tri-fold poster that differentiates between the different types of ADHD, and
incorporate other information such as its prevalence worldwide, statistics, methods of
treatment for each type, diagnosis etc. in an attempt to help people understand ADHD better,
which will hopefully allow people to handle situations differently and learn how to approach a
child with severe ADHD symptoms.

Conclusion
❖ By the end of the semester, I hope to learn
more about the condition I’ve chosen, as well as
develop better communication and leadership
skills. I want to understand how to interact well
with patients and learn more about the realistic
jobs and responsibilities of my career.
