What is your motto in your life? Please explain your answer.

Motto: “Do not live life with regrets.”

Life should be spent with the thought of enjoying every moment with what life has to offer. One
should not seclude oneself with the intent of hiding to ensure that no consequences should befall
on oneself. The consequences come after the actions of the individual. But if one does not take
action in that very moment, it may result in the feeling of regret not doing it, not knowing what
might have been will never leave my consciousness. You only live once. It should be spent fully.
Regrets will never stop digging. But problems that come from the decisions I would possibly make
can be solved but the regret of not doing anything will never die out.

Read and reflect on the words of Buddha. Write your reflection on how best the advice could
help you in understanding yourself.
Quoted by Buddha “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the
mind on the present moment.” It is clearly understood that by do not dwell on the past that the past
should only be remember and not lived by, the past serves as the lesson which an individual use
as lessons which one should learn from and avoid if the past was negatively lived by. By do not
dream of the future, the future should be strived at and not be expected to come without proper
effort given in the present, the future is the result of one’s hard work in the present. No future
comes without spending the present first and “concentrate on the present moment”, it clearly means
that an individual should focus his/her attention on what is happening now because in the future
the present would serve as the past and it will also be the very foundation of the future. The past,
present and future is a never ending cycle where in an individual spends his/her entirety on.

“Three things cannot be long hidden; the sun, the moon and the truth.” By using the sun
and the moon as a metaphor in this statement. It means that nothing would be long hidden such
as how the sun rises and sets. The moon on the other may be hidden when the sun rises but if
properly observed on one may be able to perceive where the moon may be found and that would
end the search for what is said to be hidden. The truth may be covered up but in due time the fire
would always be rekindled and set aflame.

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will
not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” Selfishly keeping happiness would
not last long yet if shared it would never die out, happiness is not a one-person thing but it is better
shared with the surrounding people, sharing does not mean it would be divided but it would be
multiplied with everyone. A single candle lights a thousand candles, much more would a thousand
candles light millions.

“We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we
make the world.” The thoughts that arise from our individuality results on how we become
physically, mentally, spiritually and socially. The world would not be without the thoughts of the
elements that the world contains. Elements are the people that resides in the world
“The mind is everything. What you think you become.” An individual is the combination
of what the individuals perceives what the said individuals’ aspects are, from personality to beliefs
that is followed.

“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and
affection.” One cannot be acknowledged if one will not acknowledge himself/herself. One should
not demean the self.

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone
else; you are the one who gets burned.” Anger is a double edged sword, anger is meant for another
but it only results on the destruction of the self. It may be meant for the person whom caused your
anger but it only destroys the self because it sidetracks one thoughts and it won’t give oneself
peace of mind.

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy
follows like a shadow that never leaves.” The thoughts are the body under the undergarments. The
undergarments will never shine without the body to emphasize the curves. Joy does not disappear
but joy will always be remembered. It will always remain in the past and the past would never be
forgotten.
“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.” Peace is not a façade that can be worn,
it can be considered to be truly as it is if it does not come from the very foundation of an individual.

1. Was it hard to find words that best describe you?

2. How about the words you would like to be described with?
3. Did you have the same description of yourself with your other classmates?
4. What are similarities and differences?
5. What are your thoughts about the activity?

1. Finding words that would describe me was excruciatingly hard because describing a single
person is too general because a single person has certain aspects that may require to study
with a broader study. One cannot determine what may describe a single person because a
person cannot be comprehended through words but if to over simply the definition of
wholesome of myself, some words fit me.

2. The words that I preferred that described me was being an open person because it clearly
defines me that I can interact with people with an open mind which is true because I can
deal with people without a judgmental perspective. People describe as open minded
because of how they experience the attention I give to them which they don’t have to feel
being conservative on what they have to say.

3. I relate to how they describe me as open minded because I can also clearly see that by how
I interact with the people around me I can observe that I consummately understand their
point of view and I can give a response which they see fit to what they want to hear.

4. The similarities I can see is being open minded and being generous. And the difference is
that I see myself is being conservative and they also define me being too prone to giving
attention to the wrong type of individuals.

5. The activity shows the perspective of people that has found a word that they define me by
how they see me and they also let me compare the difference between how I describe
myself and how they see me but the activity is also too narrow because describing a person
with mere words is simply too narrow and it won’t clearly state what I am and how my
actions perceived by others; friends, family and close individuals define me as.

Katharine Cooke Briggs was a teacher with an avid interest in personality typing and

developed her own type theory. Together with her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers, they developed

a convenient way to describe the order of each person’s Jungian preferences – this is how four-

letter acronyms were born, like INTJ-A, ENFP-T, or ESTJ-A.

I took Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test on www.16personalities.com website which only

took less than 10 minutes and my result was ESFP-T or the Entertainer. ESFP-T stands out for

Extraverted, Observant, Feeling, Prospecting, and Turbulent.

What was stated there was that Entertainers knows how have a lot of good time, they are

easily caught up in the excitement of the moment and are very generous with their time and energy.

They enjoy the simplest moments, and there is no greater joy for them than just having fun with a

group of friends. Though they Entertainers may not seem like it, they are observant with people’s

feelings around them. They are much more likely the first to talk to someone who has a problem,

happily providing emotional support and practical advice. A little bit of drama and passion is what

an Entertainer wants but never when they are the center of the criticism and they usually avoid

conflicts and not face them head-on. What Entertainers struggle for is that they are frequently

caught up in immediate pleasures that they tend to neglect their duties and responsibilities. They

are also poor planners and much more focused on leaping at opportunities.
Some of the traits describes me too similarly. Just like an Entertainer, I am a person who

enjoys hanging out with my group of friends, always procrastinates and tends to avoid my school

works and requirements, and also a bad-planner. I never go through with what I plan beforehand

especially how I plan a time table for the weekdays to finish few of my requirements in a night

and when planning to finish a school work on a weekday, which frustrates me and leaves me

regretting in the end. And whenever I find myself in conflict with another person, I am usually too

shy to approach first and ask for an apology and just wait whenever that person shows that

everything is already okay and talks to me. An Entertainer is known to be practical too, which is

totally describes me, to us Entertainers, the world is meant to be felt and experienced. Truth is

stranger than fiction, and we prefer to see and do than to wax philosophical about “what-ifs”.

Though in some situations and moments, I prefer to be alone too and be silent and not

interact with people around me. Usually, I hang out with my classmates in the room and choose to

be the person who listens to all of their stories instead of being the center of the attraction. But

whenever I am alone with a friend or two, I am the one who keeps talking and sharing about things

and always never runs of anything to be discussed.

A situation that the Entertainer in me can really be noticed is whenever my friends go out

and hang out, I really find a way to go and be there too because I always fear to be the one who

misses out on something, especially with them. I do not mind at all if it is midnight and I have a

7am class the next day, have an exam on the Monday and I go out on the weekends, or even when

my body needs rest I still prefer to go and be with them.

With the activity, I got to say that it is impressive how researchers got to understand my

personality and behavior even when I, myself do not even know how describe what I really feel. I

got to know myself more too and realized things about myself.
