ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN-IV
Time : 18 Hours (10.30 am. to 430 p.m.) Date : 19" 20" 21% June,2013.
‘Max. Marks : 500 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)
, Instructions to candidate
1. ‘The examination will be spread over 3 days with 6 hours duration on each day. The first
day (6 hours) will be for preliminary work and the next two days for final, finished
drawings. The second and third day will have a break of half an hour after 3 ‘hours.
2. At the end of the first day, the candidate shall submit line plans, two elevations and one
section of the scheme, which shall NOT be returned on the next day. On the next two
days, final drawings ie. properly dimensioned site plan, floor plans, elevations, sections
and 3-D expressions will be prepared. No deviation/change in the design from the one
submitted on the first day-shall be allowed.
3. While designing, emphasis shall be given on the design concept, design process or
evolution of design, climatic considerations, provision of services, compliance of
building regulations and presentation techniques.

LE) ACTIVITY CENTRE (for health & recreation)
AT RESORT NEAR JAISALMER
‘An upcoming private luxury resort near Jaisalmer wishes to add an activity centre for the use
of its guests. The architectural character of the centre should match that of the other structures
within the resort area — which are designed with typically vernacular elements and features of
Rajasthani architecture. The centre should be planned in such a manner that it is climate
responsive and sustainable.
‘The Site:
The site earmarked for the activity centre is flat and devoid of any vegetation. It is within the
premises of the resort and measures 90.0 m x 150.0 m. Two sides of the site viz. the West and
the South are bound by 9.0 m wide internal roads. Guest accommodation is on the North of
the site, which also has a panoremic view of the Jaisalmer fort in the background. The
reception and administration areas are on the South of the road and there is a large landscaped
area on the West.
?P. TOSetbacks of 6.0 m from the road sides and 3.0 m from the other
permissible ground coverage is 1/5 rd the area of the plot.
