Example.

Used before the first of two (or occasionally


more) alternatives (the others being
introduced by ‘nor’) to indicate that they are
each untrue or each does not happen.

Example.
We brewed neither coffee nor tea.

4. Lenient. (adjective)

(Of a punishment or person in authority) more merciful or


tolerant than expected.

Example.

An idea or opinion produced by thinking, or


occurring suddenly in the mind.

Example.

6. Neighbourhood (noum)

A district or community within a town or city.

Example.
She lived in a wealthy neighbourhood of Boston

7. crime-ridden (adjetive)

(Of a place) having a high incidence of


criminal activity.

Example.
The area is dirty, congested and crime-ridden.

8. Handful (noum)

an amount of something that can be held in one hand

a small number of people or things

Example.

a small handful of fresh coriander

9. Oddly (adverb)

In a way that is different to what is usual or


expected; strangely.

Example.

Mary had been behaving oddly

11. Swallow (verb)
