 1. PROBLEM STATEMENT

Sustainable development is defined as development that satisfies the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations to satisfy theirs. Sustainable development
insists on the need to protect the diversity of genes, species, and all terrestrial and aquatic
ecosystems in nature. This is possible in particular to protect the quality of the environment, and
by the restoration, development, and maintenance of habitats that are essential to species.

 2. INTRODUCTION

Oil becomes the most important resources to the world since mid-1950s. Start from this
era, oil becomes the lifeblood to the industrial and we could say that oil is the pulse of our world.
Because of this also the countries that supplying the oil start to pricing up the price of oil for
getting more profit. An important meeting regarding oil industry was being held in Geneva,
Switzerland. 13 countries stand for supplier of the oil were participate in that meeting that belong
to an organization set up to control the price of oil and to determine amount of oil should they
export around of the world. This action is for monitoring the price of the oil demanding from the
supplier countries.

Because of the money, power, and technology the victim of all these human lust is the
natural resource including the oil. Human population increasing day by day, technological
developments improvise time by time has leaded the factor of the oil scarcity. Demand for the
natural resource is directly proportional to the time and the graph is increasing rapidly year by
year. Who should we blame? People have their own right for using the natural resource that we
gift from god for their good and making their life easy. Competition involving technology would
not into the end and will always continue. Every people will try to be on top although their way
will bring harm to others.

 3. IMPORTANT OF THE OIL

The most important role for the oil to our world are supplying power to the industry and
housing area. Next, oil can provide fuel for making our vehicle moving directly facilitating us
transport from one place to another place in a short time. According to studies, road transport
lead another sector that using oil in UK with 57% followed by air transportation with 18%. Oil
also playing their role in the making of basic need of modern society such as cosmetic, plastic
toys, nail polish and nylon clothing. In medical, oil being use in coating the pills, disposable used
syringes and cream’s binding agent. Besides, for the plant scope, oil could produce fertilizers,
pesticides, garden furniture.

4. COURSE OF OIL SCARCITY

Scarcity of oil is one of the issue that human need to considered because we should
realize that this resources is not eternal. If we still living like today and not try to find the way for
living without oil, we could have problem to survive. There are many challenges for human to
face the oil scarcity.

In economy issue, we know that many countries that depend on selling oil to another
country as their major country income. They are Saudi Arabia, the world's largest exporter of oil,
Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Kuwait. Malaysia also one of the country that also
state that the major country income came from oil exportation. Oil scarcity may affect this kind
of countries economy.

Political issue also participate in this problem, this is because many of the government in
the world using the oil as a medium for getting vote from the people. Subsidizing oil and fuel for
the people is the one of the famous strategy to attract attention from the voters. They might be
fight in terms of highest subsidy could be offer by the parties.

 Besides, cost issue is one of the major problems will be faced in reducing the
consumption of oil. Today we know that the construction for making a renewable energy is very
in a high cost in the first investment. The machinery, site and installation should be prepared by
the government to complete this task. The challenge start when the budget is calculates and
found that the cost for making this project is much higher than proceed using fossil-fueled
generator.

Next, human society may be affected because of we are very comfortable living in the
world with convenience that provided by oil. People are comfortable with their daily life where
driving every day to the office, fly during vacation, using plastic bag while shopping at the
grocery and using oil based beauty product such as cosmetic, shampoo and soap. If we look at
the people if we look at society today, they could not live without oil. Lack of knowledge and
awareness about the environment could strive our world into the era where zero oil.

After that, oil scarcity may affect the world technology that human have improvise it in a
long time taken. For example, human have improvise engine system throughout the year for
reaching the best quality of engine. Unfortunately, the most of the powerful engine was using
fuel and we could say suddenly we got news that the oil will comes to the end someday. We are
living assisted by oil almost 70 years on the other hand our next goal’s is to change the resource
that we have use that long time is not a simple way.

 5. SOLUTION

From political issue, the government and the opposition should change the trend of
intriguing the voters. Never use subsidizing of the oil as a medium for attract voters and try to
find another way that more eco-friendly and useful for the people such as subsidizing in studies
and medical. As a government or minister of the country, they supposed to be in front of
encouraging the people to start reducing the oil consumption. From the people scope, they should
take the responsibility for demanding renewable energy instead of fuel subsidizing from their
government.

The campaign about the oil scarcity should be held for acknowledge people about this
issue. This campaign should be presented to all the citizens for getting their awareness about this
issue. With a good explanation and technique may affect citizen acceptance for facing this oil
scarcity. It is must include the trusted argument why should we save on oil consumption for our
world and including for our health. Some example and solution for living with minimize the
consumption of oil should be kindly presented to the citizen for making them easy to implement
it in their daily life.

After that, highly research skill need to be provided by the elite or university student from
the entire world for finding the best solution for solving this problem. Their role in this finding
solution is required by today’s world because to change to the new era is not a simple thing.
With an awareness of the environment and healthy competition of the technology among the
countries from entire world could solve this challenge easily. These two combination would
make the possibility of zero oil consumption could be achieve one day.

 6. POTENTIAL UN-ETHICAL PROBLEMS AND ITS SOLUTION

Ethical problem

 People Representative still using subsidizing oil as a medium to attract voter’s

attraction for wins the election.
 Malaysia still depending on oil exportation as main country income and fewer
alternatives have been found to cover the cost of the country.
 Lack of people knowledge about the awareness of oil scarcity in long time effect.
No guidance and solution had been present to the people regarding living in less
consumption of oil.
 Less functional of R&D department regarding this issue. We just looking from
other technology for our using and surely it will be high in price and may affect
country economy.
 Hardly to change the habit. One of the major problems that have to be face.
Malaysia’s citizen hardly to change their trend or habit that they felt comfortable
with it. For example, cycling campaign that talk about the benefits of bike riding
on health and environment will be held time to time for encouraging people
cycling for their health and environment and still do not get attraction from
Malaysia’s citizen. In addition, the cycling lanes that had been provided by the
government were made a parking lot by irresponsible people.

Solution

 Draft a law regarding people’s representative that still using subsidizing fuel as a
subject to get vote. Proper enforcement should be done when there is suspected
subsidizing fuel.
 Postmortem should be made by the top position of the country for finding another
way to get country income. For example, tourism, agriculture, entertainment,
manufacturer, education and many more. Try to upgrade these types of way for
gaining country income from it.
 Increase the number of campaign that should be held for people awareness
regarding this issue.
 Upgrading R&D department toward finding the alternative solution directly
compete with other country. The local university also should offer the course that
relevant to this topic for student could try finding the solution from the younger
age.
 Self-awareness should be implementing in each of the people heart regarding this
serious issue. Self-awareness can’t be implementing by other person because they
just can give reference and depend on person itself to take it or not.
