Resources: Our course has no specific textbook, so it’s very important to keep your own notes and the
materials I hand out organized. Everything I hand out should also be available on schoology.

Objectives: This course has three main goals. The first is to prepare you for the SAT subject test in
physics. This is a multiple choice exam offered in May and June. The second is to help you learn how to
read and interpret technical and scientific information in English. Finally, the course also will prepare you
for the AP Physics course next year.

Materials: I will provide you with notebooks, a binder, and other organizational materials. You should
provide yourself with pens, pencils, and a positive attitude. Bring it all to class every day. For this course
especially, organization is important.

Tentative Course Outline: We will first learn the content on the SAT II exam. Some of it will be review,
but much of it may be new to you. After we’ve had a chance to learn and review, we’ll begin to take practice
exams and really polish our knowledge.
You can expect daily homework, sometimes multiple choice, but more often short-answer.

Grading Policy: Each month you will take an exam. This exam and your performance throughout the
month will determine your grade for that month. Your monthly grade will never be lower than the exam
score ∗ , but good daily performance in class and on the homework may account for an increase of up to 25

Course Policy:

• Bring the appropriate materials (on-time) to class every day.

• Complete your work neatly, so I can grade it and so you can refer to it later

• Make good use of the organizational materials provided to you
