Systems Administration

a. Managing and ensuring effectiveness of servers, including e-mail and


backup servers, and their associated operating systems and software;
b. Administering user accounts, permissions, and access rights in the
systems;
c. Ensuring the availability, capacity, security, stability and performance
of all systems;
d. Assisting with researching, planning, implementing and overseeing
installation of new servers in the ICT environment as needed;
e. Controlling access permissions and privileges to various database as
well as recommend upgrades to the database server and database
management systems;
f. Evaluating and improving ICT Systems and processes to provide a
more efficient ICT environment;
g. Evaluating and testing new software to ensure its operability on the
University’s network;
h. Updating documentation on system setups and protocols;
i. Designing and carrying out the implementation of back up procedures,
security measures and guidelines to safeguard ICT installations and
systems against violations either accidental or unauthorized;
j. Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast
query responses to front-end users;
k. Undertaking back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility
for end-users;
l. Allocating system storage quotas and advising future storage
requirements for the database /file server system; and
m. Creating system backup schedules and test for effectiveness.

Network Administration
a. Managing and ensuring optimal operation of all network hardware and
equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, etc.;
b. Managing and ensuring effectiveness of security solutions, including
firewalls, anti-virus solutions and intrusion detection systems;
c. Initiating development and implementation and maintenance of
policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network
resource administration and appropriate use;
d. Practicing network asset management, including maintaining of
network component inventory, life cycle management and related
documentation;
e. Ensuring the availability, capacity, security, stability and performance
of the networking infrastructure in the University;
f. Ensuring the wireless network is available and adequate to meet the
needs of all staff and stakeholders of the University;
g. Monitoring network traffic and ensuring adequate speeds and capacity
are being met;
h. Updating documentation on networking setups and protocols at the
University; Providing proposals and solutions for network upgrades
needed to deal with higher network demands;
i. Constantly monitoring bandwidth utilization and ICT infrastructure
security; and
j. Creating backup for all network configurations.

User Support and Maintenance

a. Provide technical support and advice as required across the school for
staff, pupils and visitors.
b. Adopt a proactive approach and responsibility in providing ICT support,
advice, and one to one training to staff and students.
c. Install, maintain, upgrade and repair a wide range of ICT equipment.
d. Rectify problems relating to the malfunction of ICT equipment including
software.
e. Respond to ICT Support requests in a timely fashion to ensure
minimum disruption at all times.
f. Assist with the administration of the telephone system.
g. Install and upgrade both systems and application software as required
adhering to all licensing regulations.
h. Maintain an inventory of computer hardware and software (including
licenses).
i. Perform preventive maintenance duties on items of ICT hardware,
including the cleaning of equipment.
j. Provide support for the University information management system
(ERP) and associated software.
k. Report any suspected security breaches to the ICT Director
l. Follow data backup, virus protection and security procedures. Note
risks to ICT systems and suggest precautions to the ICT Director
m. Monitor and keep a log of all breakdowns and alterations to the ICT
equipment within the University.
n. Liaise with suppliers and external support companies as appropriate
o. Record accurately and prioritize support requests, outcomes and time
taken in the registers and help desk system
p. Be aware of upcoming events in the University, ensuring photographs
and filming is carried out effectively and efficiently with creative and
artistic flare!

Web Administration and Management


a. Provide the technology and design framework for the University's
website
b. Develop and test the University website across browsers, operating
systems and devices
c. Consult with various academic and administrative units, analyze and
recommend web-based solutions where appropriate, and support the
University's strategic initiatives.
d. Assist all constituents including faculty, staff, students and
departments with their input for the purpose of enhancing, updating or
modifying information any and all pages so that it properly reflects the
needs of the University
e. Manage user and group read/write access to web servers, backup,
recovery and security processes for the purpose of maintaining the
internet, intranet and data security and/or operations
f. Oversee the website/s and homepage/s (e.g. format, content,
maintenance, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining current and accurate
information
g. Ensures compliance with applicable government and institutional
policies on web site usage, security, and accessibility standards.
h. Develop and manage Search Engine Optimizations (SEO) including
conducting Organic and Inorganic SEO on other major social media
platforms like Facebook Twitter and Blogs;
i. Conducts research and recommend web-based applications
j. Manipulate traffic and Google search console stats and results to
ensure that the website is verified to avoid being blacklisted
k. Troubleshoot the website including content, links, and applications
l. Address user feedback and issues
m. Monitor web site usage statistics, and develops reports for
performance assessment.
n. Prepare and submit regular reports that relate to all web
design/development tasks upon completion and implementation
