CHAPTER ONE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The contents in this report highlight what has been done and observed during the field attachment
practical, it covers the period from 30th July to 07th Sept 2017. The field work was conducted in
TEOFILO KISANJI UNIVERSITY TABORA CENTRE. The main areas covered in the report,
historical background, function of company and challenges & solution,

This field study has provided a student an opportunity to engage and to contribute workable
solutions for the identified challenges that hinder the desired objectives, mission and vision of the
organization. Methodology used to ensure student’s participation in computer maintenance, network
trouble shooting and installation and software installation.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANIZATION

1.1 objectives.
To being social service closer to the people.

To foster social economic development.

To simplify the whole process of maintain peace, order and security in the area of
jurisdiction/where people live.

To give effective mean full about decentralization in political, financial and administration.

To ensure democratic participation.

To implement government policy.

1.2 HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF TEOFILO KISANJI UNIVERSITY TABORA


CENTRE
post of Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS). At the Region the number of Staff was
reduced to 83 employees while the excess were transferred to the Local Government Authorities.
Parallel to this exercise, this act assigned new roles to
Regional Secretariat from those of service delivery constituting monitoring and controlling
towards Local Government Authorities to Advisory Role. The Regional Administrative Secretary
became the Head of the Regional Secretariat, assisted by a few Technical Advisors in five Clusters
namely Staff Services Function, Economic Management Support Functions, Physical Planning and
Engineering Functions, Social Services Functions and Management Support Functions. Each
Cluster is composed of a few Technical Advisors. At the district level the District Commissioner is
assisted by the District Administrative Secretary who is also a member of Regional Secretariat.
In October, 2003 the Cabinet passed a directive on how to improve the performance of RS by
addressing specific problems that arose and which necessitated the Regional Administration Act to
be reviewed and amended in order to make clear the functions and responsibilities of the RS. The
Assistant Administrative Secretaries (AAs) have been appointed to head each of the five Clusters.
Due to these changes the Assistant Administrative Secretaries assist the Regional Administrative
Secretary in the execution of his functional.
Currently, Tabora region consists of seven Administrative Districts, of which five are District
Councils namely Nzega, Igunga, Tabora, Sikonge, Urambo, Tabora Municipal, KaliuaandNzega
Town Council.22 Divisions, 163 Wards and 603 Registered Villages.

According to the 2012 Population Census, the population of Tabora Region is 2,291,623 of
which 1,129,730 are males and 1,161,893 females. Population growth rate is 2.9 compared to
National rate of 2.7.

The Region is headed by the Regional Commissioner, who is the representative of the President of
the United Republic of Tanzania. He operates his functions through a Regional Secretariat that is
led by the Regional Administrative Secretary.

MISSION AND VISION OF TEOFILO KISANJI UNIVERSITY TABORA CENTRE.

1.2.1 Vision
 To be an efficient, competent and dedicated technical resource for supporting development
initiatives of Local Government Authorities and other stakeholders to enable them provide
quality Services to the people, practice good governance and a link between Central
Government and Local Government Authorities.

1.2.2 Mission
 To facilitate capacity building of Local Government Authorities and other stakeholders for
sustainable Socio-economic development of community while inter-linking with Sector
Ministries and adhering to good governance.

2.2 method used by student


I have used the method of collect and analyze data and organize the report which are the following:-
Documentary analyst is through documentary I have qualify some abbreviation which are listed in
the page above (the page of abbreviation) and historical background of the Agency

Participatory approach among others also through participant among of some activities it able to
collect and to this report. In preparation of this report there are some other student who direct me
the way report are prepared. This is the one of participatory approach among others.

2.4 Caseshandled by the student


Lack of professional staff on the ICT management

Solution:To provide training to staffs about management and user of equipment’s.

Misplacement of ICT tools or equipment.Solution:Improvement of storage facilities.

Lack of standard and guidelines of managing electronic records since there are no guidelines on the
capture, storage, retrieval, security, preservation of electronic records. Solution Prepare proper
policies or installing proper policies so as to follow by users and staffs that may use computers.

CHAPTER THREE: CHALLENGES

3.1 Challenges faced by the agency


The challenges facing the agency especially in ICT department are as following

 Lack of cooperation between the ICT professional with other computer user.
 Few/no existence of computer professional.
 Lack/poor available of computer equipment repair.
 Over working due to lot things facing one operator in ICT department.
 Lack of workers knowledge on how to keeping a computer safe.

The possible ways on how to handle the ICT challenges department at RAS TABORA.

 The organization ensures to increase the operator in ICT Department.


 The workers should make a good cooperation to ICT department.
 The organization should purchase enough tools.
 The Organization shouldmake sure that the budget in ICT department is workup

3.2 Challenges faced by the costumers


The challenges facing the costumers as following

 Let of getting service due to few number of employee


 Poor cooperation between employee and customer
 Problems of electricity at organization which let to do some work of organization out of the
time of works

3.3 Challengers faced by the student during field work


 No enough facilities to help student or other people to learn more about IT programs
 No room or venue that can accommodate a big number of audiences at the same time.
 Lack of equipment for example computer network tools

CHAPTER FOUR:

Lessons learnt
In my field period conducted at RAS Tabora organization the following are the main things I’ll
been learn in ICT department.

How to connect printer to be sharing and printing document.

 Network management and troubleshooting (LOCAL AREA NETWORK).


 How to live and cooperate with the different people in organization.
 To identify the network connectivity devices.
 Software installation(Microsoft office, anti-virus,)
 How to enter data in computer by using Microsoft office.

4.2recommendations.

Regional Administrative Office as government institutions:-

 should treat student with more cooperation as knowing that the field work is helped student
to gain skills through practical instead of treated by the way.
 Staff should give student more work to do to gain experiences.

 There is no enough table and chairs for ICT staff. Enough office equipment needed such as
computers.
Teofilokisanjiuniversity (Teku)

 Should send supervisor to visit us in our respective field location.


 The college should assist students in getting field areas.
 The college should add courses in network, maintenance and repair.

Fellow students

 Student should work hard in field. Example be punctual smart and committed. This will help
student to achieve goals.

CONCLUTION
My practical training gave me a clear vision under this industry of Information and Communication
Technology. Through practical training I obtain a wide knowledge, experience and confidence that
I can do, also I have encountered my ability and enough knowledge on my carrier and being among
competitive and strong technician to handle most of computer problem. Although in my career I
faced some difficulties but it was not an obstacle in achieving my goal.
