Overview:

I had a productive week. I attended the Employee Town Hall meeting on Tuesday and talked
with Volunteer Coordinators in the area for a project I am working on for Rich. On Wednesday, I met
with Sandy Miller to discuss her role as an administrator. It was a very good conversation. I received
the name of a Parent Engagement resource in the area. She connected us via e-mail. I hope that we will
be able to glean something from her experience working with parents who have children with
disabilities. I also had a good supervision meeting with Elisha talking about other issues that come up
with administrators like dealing with contractors and vendors. I participated in the film being produced
by VR and Tech.

On Thursday, I met with Shirley Bryson and Erin Weaver to discuss Parent Engagement. We
talked about using the Parent Information night scheduled for Nov. 13th as a Parent Focus group. They
requested that I work with Deb Talley to put together a flyer and call to advertise the event. There seem
to be no concerns about FERPA and the questionnaire.

I also met with Rachel in a separate meeting to talk about Parent Engagement. I wish she had
been included in the meeting with Erin and Shirley. We talked about the idea of multiple touches to
reach parents. I thought there should be at least two “touches”: the first touch to set the date, and the
second touch to remind the parents. We also talked about the best days to have events for parents. I
intend to include her on any communications I have with the Parent Engagement person so there is
continuity when my internship ends.
