Ss are engaged in the focus centre. Tr uses manipulatives for some students and supports
other students who are struggling with the activity. 2 students on the end are sitting for some
time without guidance.

MST says that the teacher is very good on the carpet and has started coming earlier to school
to make sure the centres are set up. Tr continues to question and reinforce Hessa and Alyzaia
are getting most of your attention because they are finishing quickly. The 4 other students are
sitting idle for too long. Students do not know what they are doing with the cars and the
wool at the more/less centre (this is more of a focus centre)
Strengths of the lesson:
 Excellent questioning during the focus centre.
 Positive reinforcement orally and the use of stickers means that the students are
working hard for you trying to seek your approval when they complete the activity.
 Modelling of the focus centre in the carpet.

Areas for development:
 Centre was academically challenging for the students, and most showed progress.
How can you make this centre more independent with more manipulatives as Alyazia
and Hessa could work on their own but waited on you to give them the counters?
You could have given them a dice.
 Layout of the activity could also be more visually appealing to the students.
 Planning – you had the idea for this last week. Have your lesson planned and
activities made before the end of the WEEK BEFORE. You were not ready for this
lesson. Where was the focus centre activity on your planning sheet. What you did
was NOT on the plan.
 Classroom management – where are the routines to help with the transitions? Song?
Online timer?
 You will be planning for all of next week’s centres WITH the teacher and are
expected to stay with the teacher until they are completed. You will need to have
your centres ready by Thursday before you leave.
