Studio Work Instruction

This is a group of 10 to 16 student assignment. Each student has to acquire a complete set of construction
drawing (Explain in Appendix 1: Acquiring Construction Drawing for Studio Work). One set of drawing will be
selected accordingly to their appropriateness to be studied and referred to, for the preparation and production of
detail drawing for the studio work.

Lecture conducted during studio and when necessary but most of the time it will be tutorial in group session.
Further outline and detail circumstances will be discussed for each group. Apart from this directive, additional
instruction and information will be given as it seems fit depending on the related problems discussed during the
tutorial session. Tutorial for each group must be done fairly and accordingly, controlled by the class representative
and group leader without any dispute in regarding the time period spend for each group.

Each student must sketch or draw accordingly to the weekly schedule as describe before and complete the task
during the studio period and submit the drawing the week after. The submission of the drawing are done through
the group leader then the entire group leader will summit the collected drawing to the class representative in which
to be summated to the lecturer. Appropriate marks deduction will be made on late submission. The drawing then
marked and the grade will be made known to the student privately in group.

Construction Drawing Compendium

Finally each group are to compile all members drawing to become “The Construction Draughtsmanship
Compendium” that are submitted before week 16. The Construction Draughtsmanship Compendium include all
necessary write up, fly page, all the construction drawings, complete set of the referred construction drawings, list
of references, relevant photograph and related document for specific clarification of the drawing and all necessary
information discussed during tutorial.

The whole report must be submitted in a Compact Disk (CD) or Pen Drive including all drawing scanned and
compile accordingly.
APPENDIX 1

ACQUIRING CONSTRUCTION DRAWING FOR STUDIO WORK

All students are required to search and acquired a complete set of Construction Drawing of a Building within 3
weeks period without which studio work cannot be done.

The department will provide a standard introductory letter to assist the student to obtain the required information.

A complete set of Construction Drawing means that the drawing numbers are in series and in logic sequence
without any missing numbers (i.e. missing drawings). Missing drawing means incomplete drawing set that might
post difficulty in completing studio works.

Only Architecture and Engineering drawing are required other drawings set are not necessary but are good
references to complement the required drawing for better understanding.

The building selected should be a simple building not more than 5 storey height preferably residential. Other types
of building such as school, mosque, hotel, office, shopping complex etc. will be slightly difficult to understand as
student will be less familiar with the term and jargon.
