Roman art
Theatre in Ancient Rome These were their drama masks

Drama began in Ancient Rome

around the 4th century B.C. Theatre
was separated generally into two
categories, Tragedy and Comedy.
Plays that were written by Plautus,
Terence, and Seneca the Younger
remain today. The Roman used
theatre to express how they feel
about their government. Roman
theatre was first used after the first
two centuries of the Roman
Republic.This was in 364 B.C.E.
Plautus and Terence are the only two
writers who wrote comedy, whose
work survived.
Architecture
Roman architecture is known
for domes, arches, temples,
bath houses, atriums,
aqueducts, apartments,
houses, and many other things
that made it different.

The Western Europe style,

beginning about 1000 AD, is
called Romanesque
architecture. It reflects the
dependence of the basic
Roman forms.
Technology
Romans developed many things in
technology. They even developed a
kind of concrete, which helped to
create stronger buildings.

Engineering
They built aqueducts to bring water
to cities. They also built many roads
that stretched from Rome
throughout the empire.
Roman Numerals
These are their numerals and which numbers
they are to us.

Roman Numerals was a system that used

a combination of latin letters to represent
numbers. The use of these numeral was
still used after the decline of Rome.
Before they used letters for numerals
they had symbols to represent the
numbers, like the Etruscans. After the
14th century Roman numerals began to
be replaced by Hindu-Arabic numerals.
Although the change was gradual.
Law and government
Many modern day governments are modeled after the romans. Stuff like
balance of powers, veto, and representation all are Roman. The united started
government has 3 branches of government. The Executive Branch is similar
to the elected consuls of Rome. The Legislative Branch is similar to the Roman
assemblies. And the Judicial Branch is similar to the Praetors of Rome. The
senate is even named after roman senate.
Their Religion
Roman religion from the start was
polytheistic, they believed in more than
one god. A lot of things about Roman
religion was influenced by the Greeks.
They added more gods and just changed
their names. Although, Judaism and
Christianity were also religions in Rome.
They both posed threats to the empire in
different ways. One of the only things
they had in common is that they both
refused to take part in worshipping
Roman gods, and making sacrifices in
temples.
