Recalling General Assembly resolutions 64/350 (2009) on climate change and its possible
security implications, 63/281 urging member states to consider the issue of climate change
within their mandates, 63/235 on agriculture development and food security, 63/294
Financing of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti, 63/232, 63/217 on natural
disasters and vulnerability,
Further Recalling Security Council meeting records PV.8372 the briefing on the role of
natural resources as a root cause of conflict, PV.8307 debating on climate-related security
risks, PV.5663 debating energy, security and climate, PV.6587 a meeting on the impact of
climate change and PV.6982 an open debate on conflict prevention and natural resources,
Noting with satisfaction the support from UNDP for countries to transition toward
low-emission and climate-resilient sustainable development, helping them to prepare for and
build resilience to the impacts of climate change, and pursue low carbon development
pathways that guarantee a cleaner future,
Expressing its appreciation for the UNDP providing on-the-ground technical assistance for
the many mechanisms on climate change,
Welcoming the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and especially
Goal 13 to ensure urgent actions are taken to mitigate and adapt to climate change impacts,
1) Calls upon member states to continue to finance and sponsor the UNDP Fund in
order to further strengthen the operative power of the paper at hand
2) Endorses member states to comply with the goals of the UN Department of
Development Programme
3) Further requests that all nations develop technology to better enhance pilot projects
in the sectors of agriculture and rising sea levels;
a) Draws the attention to the importance of technological improvement and
intensification in order to exonerate developing countries of the causes of
climate change;
4) Stresses the constant necessity for the creation of a summit, that must redevelop the
financial concepts, to continuously adapt to the upcoming consequences of climate
change;
5) Proposes a n increase in international funds through voluntary contributions by
developed countries such as France and Finland, and the introduction of annual
contributions by Member States in order to:
a) Support countries affected by natural disasters;
b) Support research on natural catastrophes that resulted from climate change
