ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS ...
You might have heard about many theories and points of view as to the concept of entrepreneurship.
However, there is only one thing we are certain of: we are all entrepreneurial. Some people need
awakening and inspiration. Others need the tools to get started.
To be entrepreneurial is to have the ability to change ideas into actions and this is very encompassing.
Everything we do is about having intentions and taking actions to accomplish them. Then, being
entrepreneurial is such a broad concept. And in your opinion, what is it like to be entrepreneurial?

ACTION
What’s the point in having an idea if you don’t materialize it? At some point, it will be important to
take action, with clear goals and the right people. We deal with uncertainties along the way, but it
is important to learn from the experiences, as we take lessons from both the positive and negative
results. Source: EntreComp:

OBSERVATION
DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU SEE?
Seeing and observing are two different things. To observe is to have the capacity to see the world
from a critical and non judgmental perspective. This is how we understand contexts and people.
Being an observer of daily life help us to see the world through a more analytical and more profound
perspective and helps us identify problems. It also helps us to observe trends, because our behaviors
and social phenomena can represent important paths for the future.
Because of that, it is an essential skill to find opportunities and shades of meaning that are inherent
to an idea.

RESEARCH
HOW CURIOUS ARE YOU?
We are all researchers today. We want to find the answers for the questions that we have. What’s
new in music, politics or the universe? There is no question outside our reach.
But a good researcher knows that Google is not the only place for good discoveries. We need to
find, screen and organize the things we are looking for. Otherwise, your good intentions might
become a source of misinformation.
Doing research is an entrepreneurial competence that equips us to find opportunities and fills us
with knowledge to deal with anything we commit ourselves to doing. It also expands our repertoire
and makes us specialists in the area we do research.
WHAT TO DO HERE?
Pick a topic of interest to you, research it
painstakingly and take notes on the opposite page.
You may research its origins, the latest findings,
scholars who have written about it, its ramifications,

HOW MANY MISTAKES HAVE YOU MADE TODAY?
Over the course of our lives, we stumble upon difficult and impossible things.
What makes us unique is what we do with them. If a problem needs to be solved,
quitting is not an option. What we can do is to face it as an opportunity for
learning and development of creativity.
Study it, search for tools and try them out. Making mistakes is something natural.
And it is not something bad because we can improve a lot. Did you fail? Find
where your opportunity for improvement might be and work on this aspect alone.

DO YOU LOVE MONDAYS?
The word work comes from Latin tripalium and means torture.
It makes a lot of sense for so many people. How about you?
It would be logic that work was otherwise related to pleasure. It is leaning on it that we spend the
most of our hours, and it seems like a mistake to dedicate them to suffering. People who have an
entrepreneurial spirit wake up early in the morning to fight for an ideal and make it a reality. For
these people, to work is to attribute meaning and significance to their routine. What can you do to develop this skill or competence?
This is only possible when we are aware of what we want, what we can do and what we want to
achieve, as well as what can stop us.
This is known as self-knowledge. And this is how we know we are spending our time in a good way.

IS CREATIVITY A GIFT?
No one will create something new by doing
the same thing over and over again. To
innovate is to connect different spots to
produce something original. But we need
to see the conducting wires between these
dots.
If you take the same path everyday, you will
always see the same landscape. Who tries
out new perspectives can find common traits
between things more easily. Simply because
they will have a large number of references.

By the way, have you realized that a career and a job are two different things? A career is some-
thing we build over time whereas a job is transient and dynamic.
It is always important to remember that your job does not define you but you career does. It is the
story of your life, inside and outside of the company. And you are the one who write it. Try to establish a connection between your job, works or previous experiences and your
purpose. Maybe it is possible to develop projects inside the company or use the knowledge
you gained to go further beyond.

IDEAR PUCRS
At PUCRS, entrepreneurial education means learning to produce benefits to society, rather than
just creating businesses. We work on the development of constructive individuals relying on cross-
sectional competences and who are capable of changing ideas into real projects.
For us, an entrepreneurial spirit is a distinctive trait in the training of people who produce social
and economic changes. Hence, IDEAR has a strategic role to fulfill, as it is one of the agents of
promotion and encouragement of an interdisciplinary and innovative entrepreneurial attitude that
produces positive impact on society.
We bring all academic areas of the university together for the benefit of an entrepreneurial attitude
and training of people who can think up projects to change the world.
