The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

Today, Sunday, I plan to attend the annual prayer service where Cardinal Sean presents Cheverus Awards.

In 2008, Cardinal Séan O’Malley instituted the Cheverus Award medals. These medals are now conferred
upon selected recipients throughout the Archdiocese annually on the Solemnity of Christ the King. The
medal recipients -- who include laypeople, religious, and deacons -- are chosen for their service to the
Church and God’s people.

One of this year’s recipients is the Shrine’s own Br. John Maganzini, OFM. With Br. John, all of the
positive Catholic adjectives apply! He’s holy, prayerful, supportive, reflective, generous, attentive, reliable,
creative, humble, joyful, industrious, loyal, and inspiring. He is absolutely beloved by the worshipping
community in Boston and by the friars and staff here at Arch Street. In the early years of discerning my own
vocation as a friar, Br. John was most influential.

The public is welcome to attend this prayer service. It will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in
Malden at 2pm on Sunday, November 25.

#Giving Tuesday
#Giving Tuesday is here! Please join us November 27, for this global day of philanthropy. Join our 24-hour
celebration.

Our goal is $71,000 for 71 years on Arch Street. Every gift we receive on #Giving Tuesday will support
our outreach ministries. Simply go to https://stanthonyshrine.org/givingtuesday-description/ on November 27,
and make your gift.

You may also text your gift. Text Donate to 617-712-2233. It is that easy! If you prefer, come to the
Shrine on #Giving Tuesday, November 27, to make your gift in person. Our friars and members of the
Shrine community will be in the lobby to greet you and accept your gift. We invite you to be as generous
as you can. Please know your gift truly makes a difference in the lives of all those whom we serve.

Abundant blessings to you in this season of giving thanks.

Year- End Gifts

As the end of the year approaches, we invite you to consider making a tax-deductible gift to the Shrine. There
are a number of ways to make this gift.
• Cash/check - may be given in person or via the U.S mail. Please note that the gift must be postmarked
by December 31 to be counted for a 2018 tax deduction.
• Credit card – Make a gift on line – www.stanthonyshrine.org with a credit card. Or, you may call the
Development Office (857-206-7243) and give your credit card over the telephone. Our electronic
giving kiosks in the lobby, and at the information booth are two other options for credit card gifts.
• IRA Charitable Rollover – If you or someone you know is 70 ½ or older and has a traditional
Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you can use your required minimum distribution to support the
Shrine through a Charitable Rollover gift. Contact the administrator of your plan and ask that your
distribution be a charitable rollover to the Shrine.
• Matching Gifts – A corporate matching gift is a tremendous way to increase your personal gift to the
Shrine. We encourage you to take advantage of your employer’s matching gift program.
• Securities – If you would like to make a gift of securities to the Shrine, please contact Maryanne
Rooney-Hegan, Director of Development 9617) 542-6440 ext. 115, or
mrooneyhegan@stanthonyshrine.org.
Thank you for all you do to help us live out the Gospel in Boston. If you have questions about making a gift,
please contact Maryanne Rooney-Hegan at (617) 542-6440 ext. 115.
