5 mins Introduction/Warmer
 Get the students to look at the first slide (pictures of burgers)
 Ask the students to work in pairs, and describe their perfect burger to each other Pairs PPT
 As a class, look at the different burgers: would you be sick if you ate the burger stacked with 6 Whole Class
patties? Would you be disappointed if you only had one patty? Relate the balance of fillings in a
hamburger to the balance of fillings in a paragraph.
5 mins Body
 Go through structure of a paragraph using the hamburger picture slide 3 Whole PPT
 Let students know that we will be explicitly learning how to write full, juicy paragraphs Class
 Go through quick questions, activate schema about sentence types and their correct structure

 Introduce topic for the lesson: holiday destinations. Ask students to think of a destination that
they would recommend. Discuss

5 mins  Using ppt example as an aid, get students to complete first step of the brainstorm (at least 6 Blank Paper

10 mins  Build on ideas as modelled in the ppt and pick the 3 points that had the most supporting ideas

 Briefly look at the overall structure of a paragraph again with the burger picture
 Start to plan paragraph using prompts on ppt (guided learning)
 Write a good copy of this paragraph
 Practice writing next paragraph individually.

Conclusion
5 mins  The bun at the top and bottom of the burger are made of the same material. How Post-it Notes
is this similar to the first and last sentence of your paragraph? Write answer on
post it note, stick on wall as you leave the room.
