14 Hi-tech reviews
Activity
Pairwork. Students write a review of a new invention.

Focus
Theme: technology.

Preparation
Photocopy one worksheet for each pair of students.

Procedure
• Explain that students are reviewers for Hi-tech magazine
– a publication that aims to keep readers up-to-date on all
the latest equipment and new gadgets.
• Divide the class into pairs. Hand out one worksheet to
each pair.
• Explain that manufacturers have sent samples of four
brand new products to the magazine. Ask each pair to
choose one of the items on the worksheet that they would
like to review.
• Ask pairs to look at the guidance notes on the worksheet
and write a review of the product.
• At the end, display the reviews around the classroom and
allow time for students to read each other’s work.
• Have a class feedback session to find out which items
students thought were the most interesting, bizarre and/or
inventive, and which they would actually consider buying
themselves.
