LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 10

I. Objectives

At the end of the one hour lesson, 75% of the students are expected to:

a. define and explain the function of each modals

b. Choose the appropriate modal to complete a sentence.

c. Cite the importance of identifying strength and weakness to achieve success

B. Review

 Teacher plays an info ad video about capitalizing strength and weaknesses to review previous lesson
 Students will be ask the ff: questions:
1. According to the video how can we capitalize our strength and weaknesses?
2. How do recognizing strengths and weaknesses contributes to our success?

C. Motivation

 Show the students a picture showing the ladder of Chances of Success?


 According to the info photo what are the chances for success?

D. Presentation of the lesson

 What have you notice with the words used in the photo?
 What do you call these words?
E. Lesson Proper

Activity

 Group the class into 9 groups.


 Assigned each group a modal verb and let them analyse how the given modal are use in each
sentences.
 Give students 5 minutes to accomplish the task,

Analysis

 Let each group read their sentences and their answers.


 Ask how each modals functions in the sentences.

Abstraction

 Provide follow up/ further explanation with regards with the function of each modals.
 Ask students to give their own examples.

Application

 Give a 10 item test to determine students understanding of the lesson.

Choose among the choices of modals to what is appropriate in the following sentences.

4. This ___________ (must/could) be the right answer but we’ll have to check with your teacher to make

Choose among the choices the correct modal that is appropriate in the sentence. Write your answers on
the blanks.

Paraphrase the sentences using appropriate modal. Write your answer at the back of the paper

1. There is a 100% chance of rain tomorrow. (It will rain tomorrow.)

2. It is possible for them to travel to Boracay Beach for the holidays. (They can travel to Boracay Beach for the
holidays.)

3. Please drive carefully tonight, ok? (Would you drive carefully tonight?)

4. It is very unlikely that we get a loan from the bank, but it’s possible. (We might not get a loan from the
bank.)

5. Perhaps Sarah lends Simon some money. (Sarah may lend Simon some money.)

B. Match two columns to identify the use of each modal verb. Write the letter only.
