Aisha, do you remember about our assignment ? there is something that we have to buy for the
science project. I think we have to go to the bookstore to buy them. Let’s go there together. I am waiting
for you at the school entrance gate after school as I have to tell the driver that I will go with you and let
him go home alone.
Mayza.
To : All students
We would like to inform you, that we would be having the school holiday from Sunday 26 th to
Tuesday 28th March 2017.
During the holiday, our school has already made plans! We want to go camping in the Highlands (I
hope it doesn’t rain), to a place called Aviemore. It’s an outdoor centre where you can learn to climb,
canoe and fish and do all sorts of exciting things. Of course we have to take you to Edinburgh Castle and
the Festival too. Don’t worry; you aren’t going to be bored! The school pays for all students, so you are
free of charge. Don’t forget to take your changing clothes with you. it may be wet. For those who want
to go, please meet Mr. Andrew at the teacher’s office.
Sincerely Yours

II. ESSAY
An iceberg is a great piece of ice floating in the sea. ‘Berg’ is the German word for ‘mountain.’ In the
coldest parts of the earth, around the North and South Poles, land and sea are both covered by layers of
ice, more than 300 metres deep at the centre.
Tongues of ice, called glaciers, stretch out into the open sea. The sea water melts the bottom parts of
these glaciers, then the top part moves into the water with a great noise. The great piece of ice sinks for
a short time under the surface, then it rises again, and floats away as a new iceberg. Some icebergs are
many miles long, and travel for thousands of miles and several years before they finally melt. The part
of an iceberg which can be seen above the water is only about one-ninth of the total size. The rest is
hidden underthe waves.
One of the world’s worst disasters at sea was in 1912 when the liner ‘Titanic’ hit an iceberg and sank on
her first journey, killing hundreds of passengers.
