HOLDING PART : They are used during the installation of the meter. The position of the part
of the meter can be adjusted vertically with the help of the adjustment screws found on the back of
the meter.
OPTICAL PORT : It is a communication unit that enables communication between the meter
and a hand held terminal or computer for the programming of permitted parameters or for the
reading of the information gathered by the meter.
READING BUTTON : It is the button that successively updates the information gathered by the
meter on the LCD display. If the meter button is not pressed, the display information will be
updated automatically every 5 seconds and displayed on the screen. The automatic screen will start
to operate 30 seconds after a reading has been conducted using the button.
TOP COVER SEAL: It is a seal affixed after the production, quality control and calibration
procedures of the meter have been conducted. Due to the fact that legal action may be taken
against unauthorized persons that tamper with these seals, the seals shall not be removed or
damaged.
TERMINAL COVER SEAL: It is an area where the distribution company must affix their seals in
order to prevent unauthorized access to the electric terminal block where the meter connections are
made. Due to the fact that legal action may be taken against persons that have not been
authorized by the distribution company but tamper with the electric terminal seals, the seals
shall not be removed or damaged
TERMINAL COVER : It is the part which covers the area where the meters’ connections are made.
In the event that the covers are opened, the information at the time of opening of the covers is
recorded in the device’s memory. After installation, power is supplied after the covers have been
closed. There is a part underneath that may be broken off for the cables to be inserted.

Figure 1 Figure 2
The meter is installed by the help of the installation part located on the top of the device and the
three installation holes found on either bottom side of the device. The dimensions of the device
are shown in figure 1, and the installation holes are shown in figure 2.
The VEM-M series electronic electricity meters are protected against unauthorized use with the
help of a total of 3 seals of which 2 are calibration seals and 1 is an electric terminal cover seal.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1- Install the meter using the installation holes as shown in figure 2.
2- Make the phase and neutral connections in accordance with the connection diagram.
(While the connections are being made, make sure that the tips of the cables are properly
stripped, that the connection screws in the electric terminal are tightened in a way that
does not damage the conductor, and that no faulty connections are made.)
3- Before applying voltage, make sure that the electric terminal cover and the electric
terminal cover button are closed.
4- Apply voltage and current. In the event that the meter is connected in reverse, a flashing
arrow ( ) symbol will appear. When this happens, control the meter’s connections
after you have disconnected the power.

ERROR WARNING DISPLAYS
The meter is designed to detect and record instances when the cover used for covering the terminal
section that the connections are made is opened. For the meter not to keep records of any opening
of the covers during the initial installation of the meter, the cover opening records are not kept until
the meter records indexes. However, a warning flashes to indicate the opening of the electric
terminal covers. If the index that is required for keeping record has not passed through the meter,
the warning on the screen disappears after the covers are closed. In order for records to be kept after
the meter is installed, the electric terminal covers must be closed, and the necessary index must be
passed through the meter. If the recording of the opening of covers is activated, the meter, records
the date and time of the first opening of the covers in each month and counts, records, and stores the
number of times they have been opened during the month. This information may be accessed in the
meters’ sub-menus. During the passage to the next month, it stores the current information in its
memory as the previous month’s information and resets the information for the next month. It keeps
recording the openings of the covers in the next month as described above. If a month passes with
the cover of the device open, it records the date of the passing of the month as the initial opening of
the covers, but indicates the number of openings as ‘’0’’.
It is possible to delete the electric terminal cover opening warning through conducting optical
readings from the meter. Optical readings only delete the warning on the device display, the stored
memory regarding the openings are not erased. .
The device is designed to detect, record and store the date and time of the opening of the cover that
covers the section where the measurement section is located. The top cover should not be
tampered with, as the opening of the top cover which has been sealed will be regarded as attempting
illegal use. When the cover is opened, a flashing warning for the opening of the top cover will be
displayed on the screen. The date and time of the opening of the top cover will be recorded and
stored in memory. Only the first opening of the covers will be recorded, and subsequent openings
will be ignored. It is only possible to reset the warning for the opening of the top cover by
authorized personnel in the factory environment.
Battery warning:
Appears on the screen when the battery supplying power to the meter’s timer is at a critical level.
Due to the fact that the battery is placed underneath the top cover, it must be replaced by authorized
service personnel. Contact our technical service in the event that a warning is displayed.
12
Timer error warning:
Appears on the screen when there is an error associated with the timer. In this case, the meter’s
tariff function is disabled and it records the whole index as a T1 tariff. Please contact our technical
service in the event that a timer error warning is displayed.
