Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Kahoot! is a great student response tool to use to extend and support
student learning experiences for all students. Students can revisit the link to review concepts discussed in
class and to give students extra practice. It is also a great tool for students who are shy to engage in a lesson
and do not normally engage in classroom discussions.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
To review the different seasons and the different types of weather, I will first show the students the YouTube
videos, “Seasons Song” and “Learn the Weather for Kids”. After reviewing the YouTube videos, I will introduce
my Kahoot! game to the students to participate in.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☒ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation

Student Response and Assessment Tools
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
The students will all access Kahoot! through WiFi either on a tablet or a mobile device. Once all the students
have accessed Kahoot!, the class will start the quiz “Seasons and Types of Weather” simultaneously . The
teacher will make sure all the students are on task and not shouting out answers. After each question, the
teacher will review why the answer is correct and the others are not. This activity will last between 15-20
minutes.
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
I will display the correct answers to the questions. I will do this so after each round we can review why which
choice is right and the others are not.
After the SRT activity, we will re-watch the YouTube videos, “Seasons Song” and “Learn the Weather for Kids”
to wrap up the lesson.

Student Response and Assessment Tools
The data that will be collected as a result of this activity will be the knowledge the students have on types of
weather and the seasons. The data collected will show me which questions the students struggled the most
with and which questions the students are grasping. The data collected will not be taken for a grade. The data
will be used to differentiate instruction for the students who are struggling with the material to provide extra
practice and guidance with the material and for the students who have already grasp the material and need
new learning material to move on to.
I hope this activity will help students learn by engaging them in the material using a quiz game. I hope to learn
from this activity where my student’s knowledge is at about the material and how to differentiate instruction
further if needed.
Reflective Practice:
After designing this lesson idea, I feel this activity could impact student learning by engaging them in the
material and making them excited to learn and review the information. To further extend the lesson, I could
then have the students describe the different types of clothing needed for the different types of weather and
seasons. I could also have the students describe the main characteristics of each season, winter is cold and
snowy, summer is hot and sunny, etc. Another technology tool I could use to further enhance this project is
SMART Notebook. I could create an activity with different articles of clothing and have the students drag the
clothes to different bins labeled Winter, Summer, Fall, and Spring.
